Australia will be aiming to convert its incredible dominance into more silverware when it takes on England in the final of the Women’s Cricket World Cup on Sunday.
Unbeaten from their seven games in the tournament so far, the Aussies are red hot favourites to claim a record-extending seventh ODI World Cup title and their first since 2013.

If they do win, Australia will hold both the T20 and ODI World Cup trophies as well as the Ashes, following the recent triumph over England on home soil.
They have passed every test with flying colours and a win in the final would confirm Australia’s complete dominance of the women’s game.
Since losing to India in the semifinals of the 2017 World Cup, Australia has only lost two ODIs in an incredible stretch that included a recordbreaking streak of 26 consecutive victories.
Former captain and Fox cricket commentator Mel Jones said Australia will go in has overwhelming favourites in Christchurch on Sunday.
“I think if you’d asked anyone in cricket at the moment that has followed the tournament, everyone would be saying that Australia is red hot favourites and they deserve that tag,” Jones told news.com.au.
Another World Cup triumph would enhance the Australian’s women’s cricket team as our nation’s best sporting side.
“There’s something just really exceptionally special about this group,” Jones said.
“You don’t go on a streak of 26 ODI wins in a row and only lose two since that last semi without having wonderful depth of players and a fantastic process.
“When you put into context what world cricket has to offer at the moment and what world sport has to offer, I don’t think there’d be too many people that would come back with a decent argument with who’s coming up against them at the moment.
“When you speak to people around cricket and in the commentary box, there is an awe by both the male and female commentators about the way in which this team has performed over the last four to five years. Not just the wins, but how they’ve won.”
“I can’t remember seeing a team under so much scrutiny and pressure than this team was during the T20 World Cup in Australia.
“The way they hold themselves on and off the field is outstanding.”
In their first meeting earlier in the tournament, Australia defeated England by 12 runs in a high-scoring affair.
But after losing their first three games, England have bounced back to make the final with four straight wins.
Jones believes the Aussies will be confident they have what it takes to beat the Poms again.
“Having played England on numerous occasions over the years through Ashes series and the like, they know each other’s game well so I think they feel very confident on the back of the Ashes series that they have game plans and match ups that would suit the England side,” she said.
