Doran, who had a breakout season in 2017-18, has failed to back up this summer. After looking set to break the shackles against the Bulls, he fell in disappointing fashion.

SHIELD, TAS V QLD, DAY 1: WADE’S KNOCK PUTS TIGERS ON TOP

The left-hander had made his way to 26 — his second highest score of the year — before walking too far across his stumps and being bowled around his legs by seamer Jack Wildermuth from around the wicket.

Tasmania reached tea at 3-115 on another slow, grinding day, with the overall lead 175. Opener Jordan Silk is unbeaten on 43 while George Bailey is 24 not out.

Earlier, Tigers opener Alex Doolan fell for his fifth single digit score in six innings.

Beginning their second innings with a lead of 60 when Jackson Bird (3-40) picked up the last two Bulls wickets inside the first seven overs this morning, Doolan was trapped in front by Michael Neser for eight.

Aside from his second innings 94 against Victoria, Doolan has now failed to reach double figures in his other five trips to the crease and has been fired LBW in four of those.

It has taken some gloss off his red hot start to the summer, where he notched a century to open the season at the Gabba and added another 90 against NSW in round 2.

Ben McDermott is the other wicket to fall for the hosts when he was unluckily run out at the non-strikers end backing up on the first ball after drinks.

Silk punched Wildermuth straight down the pitch, with the bowler getting a finger on the ball in his follow through.
