Matthew Kuhnemann breaks silence after he was cleared of suspect action by ICC

Matthew Kuhnemann has broken his silence after being cleared of a suspect bowling arm by the ICC, saying he “never doubted” his action.

Australia off-spinner Matthew Kuhnemann says he has “never doubted” his bowling action after being cleared by the International Cricket Council.

Kuhnemann’s action was under investigation after leading Australia’s attack to a 2-0 trouncing of Sri Lanka.

Kuhnemann underwent biomechanical testing in Brisbane to prove his left arm did not bend more than 15 degrees.

It was reported the majority of Kuhnemann’s tested deliveries fell under 10 degrees.

Kuhnemann says he is looking forward to putting the process behind him and getting back to playing Sheffield Shield cricket for Tasmania.

“I am very grateful for all the support I have received from my family, friends and teammates and to Cricket Australia who stood by me throughout the process,” he said.

“It was a disappointing way to finish what was such a successful Test series for Australia.

“I’ve never doubted my bowling action throughout my career and I’m always looking to improve the art of spin bowling in different conditions.

“I thought the process itself was quite fair and I appreciated the professional manner in which testing was explained to me and then conducted.

“I’m looking forward to finishing the season with Tasmania once my thumb has fully healed and then getting into my off-field preparations.”

Australia does not play another Test until the World Test Championship final in June.
