THE Tasmanian Tigers have a new Sheffield Shield coach, with Jeff Vaughan to replace Adam Griffith for the upcoming summer.
The move is to allow Griffith to spend a greater amount of time overseeing Cricket Tasmania’s male program as a whole, including its elite player pathway.

But Griffith will remain the Tigers one-day and Hobart Hurricanes coach with Vaughan the senior assistant coach and Ben Rohrer as an Assistant Coach.
As the Tigers batting coach, Vaughan has been credited by many for turning the state’s four-day batting woes around during his two years at Blundstone Arena, including the hot streak from captain Matthew Wade that has seen him returned to the Test team as a specialist batsman.
Griffith missed six weeks of the pre-season during the 50-over World Cup as Australia’s bowling coach and whether he will move into a more permanent role under his mentor, Australian coach Justin Langer, remains to be seen.
“Jeff Vaughan ran our program magnificently while I was away earlier in pre-season and as much as this is a fantastic development opportunity for him, it’s also a great one for me,” Griffith said.
“I’m looking forward to still leading our program, which enables me to work closer with the coaches and the next generation of Tasmanian Tigers and Hurricanes players in our pathway.”
Vaughan said he was thrilled at the chance to lead the four-day team.
“Being offered this rare opportunity to be at the head of the Tigers’ Sheffield Shield side is a really exciting moment for me and I’m ready to learn as much as I can from the experience,” Vaughan said.
“The playing group have put in a really solid body of work this winter and they’re currently working hard on some final touches before we go away next week.”
The domestic season begins for the Tigers Men in the One-Day Cup against Victoria on Monday 23 September, with the Sheffield Shield season starting on Thursday 10 October against Western Australia at the WACA Ground.
