TICKETS for the hottest action in town go on sale on Thursday and with an extra two home Big Bash matches, the Hobart Hurricanes are bracing for a bumper summer.
With a full home-and-away roster featuring for the first time, the Hurricanes will play five games at Blundstone Arena and two at UTAS Stadium in Launceston across December and January.
The club will host glamour club the Melbourne Stars on Christmas Eve, with Hurricanes general manager Phil Rigby hopeful of turning the contest into an annual tradition.
HURRICANES, STARS IN CHRISTMAS EVE BIG BASH CLASH
Mr Rigby said the Hurricanes had listened to feedback from last year’s tournament, with more seating to be available for general admission ticket holders, while kids tickers will be capped at $15.
“If you are a fan of Big Bash it’s never been better, we would like to hope the Christmas Eve contest is very successful and in five years time we have created a tradition,” Mr Rigby said.
“From our perspective, Big Bash was built on affordability, families having a great time and this year we have taken that to the next level.
“The entry level pricing is $8 for a child, $23 for an adult and $50 for a family, and we have made the decision to cap children prices at $15. So any seat in the grandstand at Blundstone is either $8 for a GA or $15 for a seat.
“We have also listened to the marketplace from last year and we have changed our stadium map. We have gone to how it had been previously and what that means is we have opened up more seating for GA ticketing across the hill and in areas of the David Boon stand.
“The extra benefit around that is members get early access into the stadium, so they get first crack at the seats.”
Spinner Clive Rose said the side was looking forward to playing an extra match in Launceston, after the BBL made its debut last year.
“We enjoyed playing in Launceston last year so to have another chance to play up there will be fantastic,” he said.
