Sascha Greening, BBL Legends creator, reveals KFC SuperCoach BBL team

The KFC SuperCoach BBL gurus from BBL Legends have spoken, revealing their starting team for BBL10 — and it’s got a few surprise selections.

BBL Legends is one of the fastest-growing KFC SuperCoach BBL communities, with almost 4000 members on Facebook.

The man behind the group, Sascha Greening, has revealed his KFC SuperCoach BBL tactics for BBL10.

He’s still uncertain about a few spots in his team a few weeks out from Round 1, but has settled on several positions — including spending big to have two gun glovemen.

Josh Inglis emerged as one of the most exciting keeper-batsmen in Australia in BBL09.

BBL LEGENDS KFC SUPERCOACH BBL TEAM

WICKETKEEPERS

Josh Inglis (Perth Scorchers) $161,900 WKP-BAT

Inglis is among the top wicketkeeper/batsmen in the BBL. He has a low ownership and has been in great form in the Sheffield Shield.

Baxter Holt (Sydney Thunder) $42,000 WKP-BAT

The young keeper will be a captaincy loophole option. He’s behind Matthew Gilkes at the Thunder.

Marcus Stoinis can’t be overlooked with a Round 1 double.

BATSMEN

Marcus Stoinis (Melbourne Stars) $185,700 BAT-BWL

He dominated in BBL09, setting a new record for the most runs in a tournament. He’s a must-have for Round 1 when the Stars play twice. His price is well worth it and he was first picked in my side.

Glenn Maxwell (Melbourne Stars) $185,000 BAT-BWL

The Stars captain is similar to Stoinis in that he has a huge points ceiling. It would be a risk to leave him out in a double. He can turn a match in a blink of an eye and score points fast.

Josh Phillipe’s SuperCoach popularity makes him a dangerous player to leave out.

Josh Phillipe (Sydney Sixers) $150,800 WKP-BAT

He’s similar to Inglis in that he’s a very dangerous opening batsman. His high ownership means that if he fires early you’ll have missed the boat.

Chris Lynn (Brisbane Heat) $131,900 BAT

Cheap as chips for his pedigree. Surely he comes good in BBL10? He’s worth a punt at the price.

Ashton Turner (Perth Scorchers) $62,500 BAT

Turner could bat in Perth’s top-four with Jason Roy and Liam Livingstone unavailable early. He might be one of the best cash cows.

Max Bryant (Brisbane Heat) $67,800 BAT

Big-hitting opener who’s available at a cheap price due to a below-par BBL09. Bryant is a good bench option with a double later in the season.

Matt Short (Adelaide Strikers) $65,300 BAT

This probably changes by the Strikers’ Round 2 double. I’m trying to find cash for Jono Wells.

BOWLERS

D’Arcy Short (Hobart Hurricanes) $245,200 BAT-BWL

High price but he gets the nod in our side to start with. He’s a proven performer at this level and with a Round 2 double you don’t have much choice but to start him.

Adam Zampa (Melbourne Stars) $184,100 BWL

Zampa should bowl four overs every game and is a handy enough lower-order batsman. Spin options are normally the key to KFC SuperCoach BBL success.

Nathan Coulter-Nile (Melbourne Stars) $138,600 BWL

The Stars paceman is an economical bowler, which equals points in SuperCoach BBL. At $138k with a Round 1 double he’s a bargain.

D’Arcy Short will be a top captaincy choice for Hobart’s Round 2 double.

Dan Christian (Sydney Sixers) $105,000 BAT-BWL

Nice and Cheap proven all rounder. Great price to start off with in our side. With a cash generation a real chance.

Billy Stanlake (Melbourne Stars) $75,400 BWL

The tall quick’s form in the past 18 months has been a concern but at $75,400 he could be set for a sharp price rise if he performs in Round 1.

Nathan Ellis (Hobart Hurricanes) $113,000 BWL

He’s a frontline bowler for the Hurricanes and gets a start with an eye to their Round 2 double.

Jack Wildermuth $62,500 (Brisbane Heat) BAT-BWL

Returning to Brisbane, Wildermuth should take Ben Cutting’s position at the Heat. His value is too hard to ignore.
