Welcome to the KFC SuperCoach BBL.

Last season, more than 75,000 teams signed up for SuperCoach BBL, taking on the challenge of managing their own fantasy team throughout the Big Bash League season.

SuperCoach — much like the BBL — comes thick and fast during the summer months.

There are games played most days, rounds ending and starting within 24 hours of each other and less time to make your all-important trades.

But don’t fret.

Our experts, including KFC SuperCoach ambassador Shane Warne, will provide simple advice throughout BBL10 to help you climb the rankings and claim bragging rights over your mates.

If you’re signing up for the first time, these are the basics you need to know to succeed in KFC SuperCoach BBL.

THE BASICS

■ You have a $2 million salary cap and must choose 16 players in your squad.

■ You need to choose seven batsmen, two wicketkeepers and seven bowlers. All-rounders (players listed as BAT-BWL) can be chosen as batsmen or bowlers. Wicketkeepers are also dual-position (WKP-BAT).

■ Coaches have unlimited trades to use until Round 1 starts.

■ Before each round, lock in your starting XI. These players score points for the round they are selected. Should any of these players miss, an emergency is activated from your bench in the relevant position (if a batsmen misses, he is replaced by a bench batsmen). For the first time, coaches will be able to choose their emergency players.

■ Choose a captain and vice-captain. Your captain scores double points and your vice-captain acts as a back-up if your captain doesn’t play.

■ Several scoring tweaks have been made for 2020-21. See the tables below for details on how your batsmen, bowlers and wicketkeepers can score points.

■ The BBL schedule is crucial. If a team has a double game week (DGW) their players score points from both matches. Most coaches will choose their captain from a DGW team.

■ Teams will have byes throughout the KFC SuperCoach season, so plan ahead when making your trades.

■ Be mindful of the availability of Test and international stars. Not all of them will be available for the entire tournament. For example, the Australian Test squad faces India from December 3 (the proposed BBL start date) until January 7. That period takes in eight rounds of KFC SuperCoach.

■ The KFC SuperCoach season will consist of 17 rounds — 13 for the regular season and four for BBL finals. Coaches have three trades a round during the season (36 total) and unlimited trades during finals when less teams feature.

■ Player prices change from Round 1, not Round 2 as in SuperCoach AFL this season or Round 3 as in SuperCoach NRL.

■ Download the KFC SuperCoach app for Apple or Android to easily manage your team.

■ Delicious KFC prizes will be available throughout the season. The grand prize for KFC SuperCoach remains $25,000. The top-10 finishers and round winners will also pocket a cash prize.

WELCOME TO SUPERCOACH PLUS

For the first time, KFC SuperCoach BBL players will be given access to the in-depth stats which have shaped SuperCoach NRL and AFL teams via SuperCoach Plus.

SuperCoach Plus subscribers will have access to break evens (the score which determines whether a player increases or decreases in price).

These are one of the most important tools in the game when determining your KFC SuperCoach trades.

If a player has no chance of hitting a high break even (or BE) it’s time to move them on. For example, if their BE is 170 and their average is 60, that player is likely to lose value.

If a player has a low or negative break even, they might be the cash cow your team needs to build its value.

For example, if a player has a break even of 10 and an average of 40, they’re likely to increase in value.
