Barmy Army rattled by Aussies’ Ashes ad as England fans complain about everything

The Barmy Army has unloaded over an Ashes advertising campaign and it’s safe to say England’s feathers have been well and truly ruffled.

The whinging Poms are in fine form this summer as they desperately look for any moral victory at 2-0 down in the Ashes.

And now they have been rattled by a Cricket Australia Ashes ad, showing their heads are completely gone.

The governing body used Alex Carey’s infamous Johnny Bairstow stumping to hype up this summer’s series, showing the vision right at the start of an ad campaign for the series.

Aussie players and fans have continued to poke fun at England for their over-reaction to the dismissal, which was entirely in line with the rules that were written by the Brits.

However, that didn’t stop the Barmy Army from filing a complaint over the ad.

CA defended the ad campaign, using Carey’s dismissal and voiceover that has run for the past three months on various platforms.

But Barmy Army leader Tony Emmerson told The Age that the use of Carey’s stumping was a low blow and showed a lack of “creativity”.

“I just think it’s not very creative,” he said.

“I’m sure they could’ve come up with something a little bit more creative or thought-provoking.

“It goes to the creativity the Australians put into writing their songs.”

Emmerson also poked fun at the iconic “Aussie Aussie Aussie, Oi Oi Oi” chant.

He is far from the only Barmy Army member to have their feathers ruffled by the Aussies’ domination.

During the second Test, one English fan complained about all things Australian, from the cricket played on the field to the beer drunk in the stands.

The man kitted out in a replica shirt worn by the Brits’ 1992 Cricket World Cup side had his WhatsApp messages shared by the Instagram account The 28 Year Old Male, and safe to say he wasn’t having a good time watching Mitchell Starc put on a fine 77 off 141 balls.

“Surrounded by C***s. The English are keeping their heads down,” one message read.

“Wayney, the accents behind me and the crass comments irk,” another said.

He also slandered the Aussie beer.

“The beer is expensive horse piss, yet the natives still get pissed and remain unfunny,” he continued.

“Culture less country of c***s. I certainly won’t be returning.”

“Hahahhhaa omg this is gold,” Australian actor Mike Goldman commented.

“Couldn’t be rattled, could he?” Nat Martin added.

“A full-scale meltdown that,” another wrote.

The third Test will begin on Wednesday morning at Adelaide Oval.
