Nathan Lyon finally made the breakthrough, dismissing Sundar after his 162-run stay at the crease before Jasprit Bumrah fell for a duck while Reddy was stuck on 99.
But Mohammed Siraj survived for seven balls and allowed the 21-year-old to bring up a maiden Test century as the deficit was reduced to just 116 runs.
A rain delay brought an early tea and another one led to stumps on Saturday, but the forecast is looking great for what should be an incredible day of cricket on Sunday.
With the series tied at 1-1, and Australia needing to win the series to regain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, it’s all to play for in Melbourne.
