While Australia anxiously waited to see if they made it through to the T20 World Cup semifinals, an Aussie legend and his daughter were living it up in the Caribbean.

The T20 World Cup is reaching its pointy end with a dramatic conclusion to the Super 8 stage on Tuesday that saw Afghanistan progress to the semi-finals at Australia’s expense.

Australia left their fate in the hands of their rivals following consecutive losses to Afghanistan and India.

The Aussies had to rely on Bangladesh beating Afghanistan in the rain affected final game, or doing enough to progress with a superior net run rate to Afghanistan. But Afghanistan won and the Aussies were eliminated.

Matthew Hayden and Ricky Ponting are among the Australian cricket greats commentating on the T20 World Cup.

Hayden caught up with his daughter Grace, who is also in the Caribbean pursuing her blossoming media career covering the World Cup for Indian broadcaster Star Sports.

The legendary opening batsman shared a wholesome photo with himself and his daughter enjoying a drink on a beach in the Caribbean.

“Miss you already,” Hayden wrote.

Grace, 22, commented: “Love ya Dad See you in London.”

Hayden’s daughter is emerging as a star media performer, reporting on the Indian Premier League and filming lifestyle stories at the T20 World Cup.

On top of her position as fashion expert and roving reporter with Channel 7’s racing coverage, Hayden also featured during last year’s ODI World Cup in India alongside her father with the Disney-Star network.

The Brisbane product featured as part of Seven’s Autumn Racing Carnival and Spring Racing Carnival coverage this year after making her network debut last year.

“I didn’t envision this, but it’s great to be here. I feel so honoured,” Hayden said last year.

“I’m really excited; it’s such a big event, it’s the biggest in the Australian autumn carnival.

“Growing up, Dad has always been in the spotlight and it’s nice to make my own path in this world.”

Last month, the Courier Mail reported Grace had soft launched her new relationship with a mystery man believed to be the son of Queensland cotton moguls Danielle and David Statham.

The report said Hayden shared a photo with the torso of a man behind her, after the pair were spotted looking cosy at a Sydney pub.
