Mitchell Starc was the star of Day 3, topscoring with 77 to help Australia take a 177-run first innings lead and then taking two wickets as England collapsed in the night session.

At stumps the visitors were 6/134 and still trailing by 43 runs, requiring a Ben Stokes miracle to have any hope of staying alive in the match.
