LAUDERDALE has outlasted a gallant Clarence in a titanic Eastern Shore arm wrestle at Blundstone Arena to improve its TSL record to 4-0.

The Bombers were jumped early by the youthful Roos — who were boasting nine players with 10 games or fewer experience — who led by 19 points just before the quarter-time siren until Ben McGuinness converted a set shot following a brilliant chase and tackle.

The visitors then kicked two goals inside the first two minutes of the second quarter, and the first four for the term, to grab control and take a nine point buffer into the long break.

Momentum ebbed and flowed in the second half, with Clarence hitting the lead briefly in the third stanza after three consecutive majors, only for the Bombers to answer with three of their own to open up a 15-point advantage at the last change.

Lauderdale had several opportunities to ice the game early but cost itself with wayward kicking, but eventually held on for a 13.13 (91) to 11.10 (76) victory.

Alex Saunders, Matt Elliott and Nat Franklin all booted two goals each for the victors, who were well served by skipper Bryce Walsh through the middle and rebounding defender Josh McGuinness.

Edward Trupp was a handful in the forward line but was the chief culprit in front of goal, finishing with 1.4.

For Clarence, who remains winless after three matches, late inclusion Tyler Penwright kicked three goals, with Oliver Preshaw and Jarrod Harper chiming in with two.

Penwright and Harry Burgess came into Clarence’s side for coach Jeromey Webberley (hamstring) and Keren Howlett (back), while Nick Sneyd replaced Jacob Gilbee in Lauderdale’s team named on Thursday.
