The northerns beaches athlete has continued her return from a series of injuries - one which required her to spend a year out of her sport after the last Olympic Games - to post a fifth at the Ruka World Cup on the weekend.
The result was a three-place improvement on her opening day at the meet in Finland for the 31-year-old from Sydney’s northern beaches who boasts two world championship medals and a raft of experience.
Scott, who has been to two previous Winter Olympics but cursed with a string of injuries since the last event in Korea, pulled out a double full-full double twisting double back somersault for a score of 89.18 points in the one jump competition.
Scott is now in Europe competing after a year spent recovering form injury and valuable training time at the new Olympic Winter Training Centre water jump facility in Brisbane.
“It’s a pretty good start to the season, just slowly building,’’ said Scott, who also competed in the mixed aerials team event that will debut at the Beijing Winter Olympics next year for a seventh place.
Scott originally wanted to be a gymnast but once she became involve din skiing has never looked back.
She is now vying to crack her third Winter Olympic team.
