They’ve re-signed a number of big names, and another Hurricanes star has given every indication he wants to follow suit after Monday’s big win.

The Hurricanes have already re-signed five big names from their title-winning squad, and Tim David is giving every impression he’d love to follow suit.
Before Mitch Owen’s heroics led them to a maiden trophy on Monday, the Hurricanes locked down Owen, skipper Nathan Ellis, Riley Meredith, Ben McDermott and Nickhil Chaudhary, all for the next three seasons.
Big hitting David, who had arguably his best season in purple since shifting to Hobart in 2020-21, would be next on the hit list.
He will undoubtedly attract plenty of interest during the BBL’s ten-day player movement window, which began on Tuesday.
But the 28-year-old’s love for the Hurricanes was evident when he spoke to media after the final.
The club is quietly confident that will hopefully be enough to ensure he recommits.
“That (contract) stuff is being taken care of off the field. I’m not concerned by any of it,” David said.
“Obviously the press is going to drum up certain stuff about how things are going, it’s a quirk of the negotiation window.
“It’s nice for me to be talked about in those circles but I hope you see how much I enjoy being a part of this team. We’ll see what happens.”
The Stars are reportedly heavily interested in David, but Test all-rounder Beau Webster seems increasingly likely to wear purple and play out of Tasmania full time.
David is underrated externally as a key leader at the Hurricanes, but he will be sought after property.
“Although I live in Perth, the most time I spend in Australia is Hobart. I spend six weeks or so here, and maybe two or three in Perth,” the globetrotting batter said.
“My home of cricket is in Hobart, it has been for five years. We’ve been around the world and played a lot of cricket, we want to bring that success back to our home team.
“To repay the faith we’ve had from our own organisation, we’e going to enjoy this one.
“We’ve been wanting to win this (title) so badly. It feels amazing right now, but a lot of us are very close at the Hurricanes and we’ll look back on this fondly.
“The identity of this cricket team is we’re going to have a lot of guys coming from interstate, but for us our cricket home now is in Hobart.”
