‘Can’t hit a lady’: Patrick Beverley throws ball at fans twice, kicks reporter out of presser

The NBA world has condemned Patrick Beverley after throwing a ball at fans twice, before ejecting a reporter for a bizarre reason.

NBA star throws ball at fans twice

NBA pest Patrick Beverley has been slammed after twice throwing a ball at a group of Indiana Pacers fans during the Milwaukee Bucks’ season-ending 120-98 loss.

Indiana took a 3-2 series lead into game six of the NBA Eastern Conference series with the Bucks needing a win to take it to game seven.

However, the Pacers were dominant, winning every quarter to claim the 22-point win.

But with just over two and a half minutes remaining, Beverley ended the season on an ugly note, firing a ball into the stand where it hit a female fan in the head.

Beverley then asked for the ball back before throwing it back even harder at the fan who had thrown it back to him.

The 35-year-old then sat down and exchanged words with another fan before security intervened.

Beverley is known as one of the NBA’s biggest pests and is not afraid to be disrespectful.

Having been traded to the Milwaukee Bucks from the Philadelphia 76ers in February — his seventh team in the NBA — Beverley was clearly frustrated as the time ticked away on his latest side’s season.

Incredibly, Beverley, who finished the game with six points, five assists and two rebounds in 40 minutes on court, wasn’t penalised during the game over the drama.

The NBA usually fines players US$25,000 for throwing a ball into the stands and the league is said to be reviewing the incident.

It wasn’t clear what if anything led to the situation and Beverley didn’t speak on the situation when asked about it post-match.

“Nah, don’t worry about that. Nothing,” he told reporters.

However, he took to X later in the night, claiming there had been an issue throughout the night and security hadn’t intervened.

“Not Fair at all. Exchanged between a fan and our ball club all night. We warned and asked for help all night. Not fair,” he wrote.

But while Beverley wanted to brush it off, NBA legend Charles Barkley was calling for a suspension.

“Oh, he hit that lady in the head. He gone. He’s going to get suspended for that. You can’t hit no lady, ever,” Barkley said.

“Listen, I’ve done stupid stuff, and I got criticised. That’s just wrong. He’s going to get suspended for that. And that’s going to be a good one, too, because he didn’t do it once, he did it twice.”

Equally, fans didn’t like what they saw.

Indiana Pacers beat reporter Scott Agness posted: “This is awful by Patrick Beverley. Completely unprofessional.”

One fan called Beverley “a bum for this”.

The NBA Memes X account sarcastically joked: “Gotta Patrick Beverley for handling the loss like a true professional. That’s a role model.”

The night got more bizarre from Beverley after he kicked a female reporter out of his post-game interviews for not being subscribed to his podcast.

Beverley: “You subscribed to my pod?”

Reporter: “I do not.”

Beverley: “You can’t interview me then. No disrespect.”

The reporter had moved her microphone a little further away but he then pushed it further, adding: “Can you move that mic out of my face please?”

As a subscribed reporter finished his question, Beverley added: “Can you move that mic please or just get out the circle for me please ma’am? If you’re not subscribed to my pod, I appreciate that, thank you.”

Beverley’s actions were called “embarrassing and shameful”, while another fan called Beverley “a short tempered loser”.
