Tasmania have made eight changes for the upcoming VFL State League match against Sandringham Zebras but Fraser Turner said there is still plenty of buy in from the playing group.

It has been six weeks since Tasmania played the round three match against Frankston, going down by 21 points.

With players going back to their local clubs, Turner said the group is as connected as ever as they face another tough contest on Sunday.

“It has been really strong, it is a big ask for blokes to travel up to Launceston to be at UTAS on a Tuesday night at 6pm,” Turner said.

“But we have had a really good turn out to those session and the energy and the buy in has been really high, so that will contribute to our performance on the weekend.

“It is really exciting, especially to (play) against a VFL side that is aligned with an AFL team.

“It will be really good to challenge ourselves and see where we stack up against them.”

Unveiling four new debutants on Sunday, Tasmania will go in as major underdogs.

“It would be good to have the experience in the team but we sort of have that next man in mentality,” Turner said.

“The last few weeks since club footy has started off, we have a lot of blokes who are in some really good form who have been rewarded in the team this Sunday.

“I am confident that the guys who have come into the team will play their role.”

Devonport’s Keegan Lowe will come into the side after a 53 disposal game on Saturday for his local club.

“I haven’t played with him before or against him but I saw his numbers on the weekend and they were pretty impressive,” Turner said.

“For a bloke like that to be playing consistent footy at club land, it goes to show that if you put in the effort, you are going to get rewarded.

“I hope it will be a competitive match up for sure, the way we have been training and focusing offensive game and playing at UTAS stadium will definitely suit us.

“We are really looking to play to our strengths on UTAS and implement what we have been training.”

Bounce down between Tasmania and Sandringham is at 2:30pm on Sunday at UTAS Stadium.
