Travis and Jason Kelce were impressed after seeing Taylor Swift down a beer during the Super Bowl between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers.
“She’s getting after it,” Jason Kelce said during the latest episode of the brother’s New Heights podcast, admitting at first that he didn’t know what was going on when the pop star and her friend Ashley Avignone grabbed their drinks.
“Pretty cool.”
As Swift arrived in Australia for the next leg of her Eras tour, her football star boyfriend said he didn’t realise that the star’s impressive skolling had appeared on the stadium’s big screens but joked afterwards that she must have “done this before”.
“She’s a pro,” laughed Kelce.
Swift and her friend chugged their drinks the moment the camera panned to them inside a private box at the game.
Swift has been in a relationship with Kelce since mid-2023, but they didn’t debut their romance until September and she has been a regular at his games during the American football season.
It comes as Jason Kelce chastised his brother for “crossing a line” when the Chiefs star screamed and bumped into his coach Andy Reid during the Super Bowl.
“You crossed the line,” Jason told his brother.
“The yelling in his face, too, was over the top. I think there are better ways to handle this, retrospectively.”
Travis was seen losing his cool in the second quarter after being off the field on a play where Isiach Pacheco fumbled and the 49ers recovered.
He agreed that he went too far.
“I can’t get that fired up to the point where I’m bumping coach and getting him off balance,” Travis said.
“When he stumbled, I was just like, ‘Oh s**t’ in my head.”
The altercation saw Travis raise his voice at Reid, before bumping him with enough force to make him stumble.
Chiefs teammate Jerick McKinnon quickly grabbed Kelce and pulled him away.
The Kelces’ both discussed emotions running high on the field.
Explaining that he’s a “passionate guy,” Travis Kelce, a three-time Super Bowl champion, was apologetic over letting his emotions get the best of him.
“I love coach Reid,” he said.
“Coach Reid knows how much I love to play for him, and how much I love to be the product of his coaching career. I’m not playing for anybody else but Big Red. If he calls it quits this year, I’m out there with him.”
“I’ve got a certain relationship with him,” he continued. “He’s checked me a few times and just wanted to let him know that I wanted this thing and he could put it on me and that I got him.”
Travis said the heated exchange “came at a moment where we weren’t playing very well, I wasn’t playing very well,” adding that the team “had to get some s**t going.”
“Sometimes those emotions just get away from me, man. That’s been the battle of my career,” he added.
Still, the tight end noted that he doesn’t “give a s**t what anybody else” other than Coach Reid says about the blow-up.
“I talked to coach Reid about it today and we kind of chuckled about it, and I couldn’t be more proud of where we’ve come as a team since I got here in 2013,” he shared. “I just love playing for the guy. Unfortunately, sometimes my passion comes out where it looks like it’s negativity, but I’m grateful that he knows it.”
After the sideline bump, Reid called a personnel package that did not include Kelce on the next play.
“It was pleading with your head coach to let you go out there and win this s**t, me and you both know what that is,” Jason said.
“Big Red, sorry if I caught you with that cheap shot, baby,” Taylor Swift’s boyfriend added.
After the Chiefs’ 25-22 victory over the San Francisco 49ers in overtime, Kelce was seen giving Reid a hug.
“As much as he bumps into me, I bump into him,” Reid said. “He caught me off balance.”
“I was just telling him how much I love him,” Kelce said.
