KANSAS City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce’s towel toss toward an NFL game official last week will cost him a pretty penny.

Kelce immediately went to his Twitter account and asked fans what he could’ve purchased for that amount, including 1,715 Nicolas Cage pillow cases.

Kelce was ejected in the fourth quarter of the Chiefs’ 19-14 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars last Sunday after receiving two unsportsmanlike conduct penalties.

After officials failed to call pass interference on one play he argued with two officials and after one issued a first unsportsmanlike conduct penalty he threw the towel from the waistband of his uniform — mimicking the flag-throw used by game officials to signal penalties.

That led to the second penalty and his removal from the game. As he departed Kelce greeted fans and handed out some of his game equipment.

Asked after the game what he learned he said: “I can’t throw my flag on the ref, but he can throw his all day long.”

Kelce is no stranger to being fined by the NFL. The league docked him $11,205 in 2014 for making a sexual gesture near a referee who was announcing a penalty.

A missed call is just that... missed. No matter how much frustration builds on the field, the refs don't deserve that kind of response.
