‘Insane’: Kiss cam couple humiliated at US baseball game

The world can’t get enough of the Coldplay kiss cam scandal, and the couple have been roasted in savage scenes at a US sporting game.

You know it’s bad when other kiss cams are getting in on the joke.

AI and data company Astronomer is bracing for the fallout of a very 2025 scandal after a kiss cam at a Coldplay concert unearthed an affair between its CEO and chief human resources officer.

The couple, who were spotted canoodling at a Coldplay concert in Boston before immediately ducking for cover, have been identified Andy Byron and Kristin Cabot.

The camera zoomed in on the couple happily in a romantic embrace. But their faces turned from contentment to horror when they realised the whole stadium could see them. Both then fled, making concert-goers wonder why they were so determined not to be seen.

“Oh, look at these two,” Coldplay frontman Chris Martin said on stage before things took a turn.

“All right, come on, you’re OK. Oh, what? Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy. I’m not quite sure.”

Now the scandal has taken a turn, with a kiss cam at a Major League Baseball game between the Philadelphia Phillies and Los Angeles Angels poking fun at the incident.

Footage emerged of the kiss cam at the Phillies game on America’s east coast, with the stadium playing a Coldplay song in the background as the camera on the big screen panned to couples in the stands at Citizens Bank park.

The happy couples on screen shared a smooch, while one man mocked the CEO scandal by holding up a sign that read: “This is my wife”, in an obvious nod to the Astronomer saga, before giving his partner a kiss.

Philadelphia’s mascot the Phillie Phanatic re-enacted the scenario with another green mascot, with one mascot covering their face and the other ducking for cover.

The crowd couldn’t get enough of it, erupting in laughter as they realised what was going on.

Footage of the kiss cam at the Phillies game has gone viral, racking up more than three million views.

The official Phillies account on X shared the video of their mascots taking the mickey out of the situation, posting: “Local CEO caught CHEATING at Phillies game?!”

One fan wrote on X: “Phillies mascots recreated the viral moment of the CEO caught cheating at the Coldplay concert.”

A second said: “Lol this is hilarious. The Phillies had a kiss cam and had the Phillie Phanatic re-enact the Coldplay affair.”

Another said: “This is absolutely insane. The Phillies rolled out a kiss cam and had the Phillie Phanatic re-enact the Coldplay affair in front of a stadium full of people. This country is not serious.”

The concertgoer who filmed the interaction and shared it on social media has responded, saying: “I had no idea who the couple was. Just thought I caught an interesting reaction to the kiss cam and decided to post it.

“A part of me feels bad for turning these people’s lives upside down, but, play stupid games … win stupid prizes.

“I hope their partners can heal from this and get a second chance at the happiness they deserve with their future still in front of them.”

She added she went to bed as her video started to pick up traction.

“I woke up to seven million (views). Now over 30 million. Overwhelmed to say the least,” she said.

Astronomer said in a statement on Friday that CEO Andy Byron was placed on leave and that Pete DeJoy, co-founder and chief product officer, was interim CEO.

“We will share more details as appropriate in the coming days,” the company said in a statement on X.

Earlier, the company confirmed it launched an investigation into the matter.

One X user claimed that Mr Byron’s wife had dropped her married name from her Facebook profile, and didn’t restrict people from making comments. Ms Cabot is not married.
