IF you thought the Black Eyed Peas and Gang of Youths went down badly — spare a thought for the can of worms just opened up by the NFL.
The AFL and NRL grand final entertainment never seems to satisfy everyone — but Gillon McLachlan and Todd Greenberg at least managed to please a section of their constituents with this year’s selections.
The Super Bowl appears to have left everyone angry.
Maroon 5 has reportedly won the race to headline the half time show at Super Bowl 2019 — and fans aren’t too happy.
Plans are already underway to make next year’s show bigger and better than the previous offering, The Sun reports.
Variety says it has confirmed Maroon 5 has been locked in to perform the most-watched half time show in world sport when they step on stage to belt out some tunes on February 4 (AEST) at Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.
The NFL says it is still finalising its plans for next year’s Super Bowl entertainment.
“It’s a Super Bowl tradition to speculate about the performers for the Pepsi Halftime Show,” an NFL spokesman has reportedly said.
“We are continuing to work with Pepsi on our plans but do not have any announcements to make on what will be another epic show.”
Fans are desperately hoping the half time show hasn’t in fact been finalised.
Rumours were swirling on social media that California pop rock band Maroon 5 would be picked to perform on the biggest stage for 2019.
The confirmation of the Los Angeles-based pop-rock act hasn’t gone down well in some quarters. Not well at all.

Super Bowl in Atlanta and the NFL (not surprisingly) chooses to ignore the likes of Outkast, T.I., and many more for Maroon 5. Who in the league office makes these decisions?

Maroon 5 is set to follow Justin Timberlake, Lady Gaga, Cold Play, Beyonce, Bruno Mars, Katy Perry and the Red Hot Chili Peppers to perform the half time show in recent years.
Last year Timberlake returned before the Philadephia Eagles bagged NFL’s biggest prize with a 41-33 victory against New England Patriots.
