Zeke Uwland is one of the top prospects in the 2025 AFL draft, viewed by many as the best player in this year’s class.
Gold Coast academy gun Uwland was selected by the Suns with pick No.2 overall.
If not for his academy ties, Uwland could have been the first name called out. Regardless he was the second player off the board – and the Suns moved swiftly to match any bid on the smooth-moving midfielder.
With a lethal left foot, the 18-year-old from Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast has been likened to Sydney superstar Errol Gulden.

Zeke’s eldest brother Bodhi Uwland already plays for the Suns and was named the club’s Most Professional Player in 2024.

“Growing up I’ve never really been that best on ground sort of player, I’ve just had that hope and aspiration to be an AFL player,” he told CODE Sports as part of the Chasing the Dream docuseries.
