West Coast said it was “bitterly disappointed” by the incident in a statement released on Thursday.
“West Coast Eagles small forward Jamaine Jones will tomorrow face court on a charge of driving with a blood-alcohol level exceeding 0.08,” the statement read.
“Jones informed the club immediately at the time of the offence and the matter will now be dealt with by the legal system.
“The club is bitterly disappointed with Jones’ actions and will review the incident after the hearing with the likelihood of a separate sanction.
“There is no excuse for getting behind the wheel under the influence of alcohol and Jones is extremely remorseful for this serious error of judgment.
“The club will make no further comment on the matter at this stage.”
Jones has played 17 games for West Coast since joining the club in 2020 after starting his AFL career with Geelong, where he played seven matches.
The 23-year-old became a regular in the Eagles‘ AFL line up this year, making 15 appearances.
Jones signed a one-year contract extension with West Coast earlier this month.
