Wayne Carey has become a dad once again, this time at the age of 53.
The AFL legend’s partner Jessica Paulke, 33, gave birth to the couple’s baby boy, the second son they’ve had.
Carey confirmed to the Herald Sun that the newest addition to the family has yet to be named.
The 272-game icon and Paulke have a five-year-old Carter, while Carey also has daughter Ella, from his first marriage to Sally McMahon, and Charlotte with former fiancee Stephanie Edwards.
Carey first shared news of Paulke’s pregnancy in August last year, stating how over the moon the couple and their son Carter was.
While it’s all happy faces for Carey, the North Melbourne premiership player found himself in the headlines late last year after his team excluded him from a promotional video — which you can see below — celebrating its 100-year history in the AFL/VFL.
The storm took a turn when Carey went on the front foot and said he won’t “live with toxic shame” over his scandal-plagued career on and off the field.
Speaking on Sam Newman’s podcast, Carey said the video saga was the latest instance where his chequered past had been brought up in the media.
“This is me finally saying, ‘come on, enough is enough’,” Carey said on the You Cannot Be Serious podcast.
“Surely I don’t have to live … I’ve probably only got nine good summers left, Sam. Surely I don’t have to live the last years of my life living things that occurred 30-plus, 20-plus years ago.
“Surely I’m not that interesting to keep bringing up things that happened that long ago. It’s astounding.
“They’re driving my kids, their friends … the talk about violence. They are driving the mothers of my children into their graves, that’s what they’re doing.
“The vindictive nature of what continues to happen is just wrong.”
Carey also said the infamous incident where he was alleged to have glassed his then partner Neilson was incorrect and “ludicrous”.
The former couple were briefly engaged in 2009, but split soon afterwards. The alleged glassing incident occurred in Miami in 2007.
