Richmond CEO Brendon Gale’s tenure at the helm is set to be extended with a new three-year deal.
Tigers president Peggy O’Neal told The Age on Friday that the club was in the final stages of extending Gale’s time in the role, which he has held since the end of 2009.
Gale’s commitment would be significant for the Tigers, with the lauded administrator often touted as a potential successor to AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan when he decides to vacate the role.

“Brendon has indicated he’s going to continue, so I’m finishing up his contract now,” O’Neal told The Age, before lauding his development as an executive.
“The first couple of years I remember when he was CEO, he just looked terrified the entire time because we were just in such bad shape and he had a lot of things to do.
“It’s a big step up from the AFL Players’ Association because he went from that to becoming CEO of a club that needs a lot of work but he is very committed and he’s been a great leader for us.”
Earlier this year, three-time premiership coach Damien Hardwick recommitted to the club until at least the end of the 2024 season.
Early in his tenure, Gale put forward a bold 10-year vision that included the Tigers winning three premierships by 2020.
After overcoming a board challenge and helping revitalise the club, Gale’s ability to deliver on that plan has made him one of the most sought-after names in the game.
