DESPITE an upset loss there was one Tiger flying high at the Twin Ovals yesterday and that was Elijah Reardon whose superman act will stay long in the memory of those who saw his incredible mark.
About 10 minutes into the rollercoaster contest Reardon soared high above the pack and gloved an incredible “hanger” in front of the interchange benches and coaches boxes.
It brought gasps and cheers from the crowd but it was not enough to rouse the Tigers to a win over the red-hot Demons, going down by 10 points in the home side’s debut in the coronavirus-shortened 2020 season.

Reardon was among the Tigers’ best, along with dogged defender Jarryd Drew, onballers Will Campbell, midfielder Lachie Watt and forward Luke Graham, who was the Tigers’ leading goal kicker with three.
Tigers coach Trent Baumeler was frustrated and said it was a kick in the derriere his side needed.
“Our ill-discipline cost us,” Baumeler said.
“I’d hate to think the number of goals we gave away from free kicks – holding on at stoppages, giving them away right in front of goals, and little mental errors,” he said.
“We let the big fella [Hamish Allen, North Hobart] mark right on the line where we didn’t have any representation in the contest.
“There were two 10-minute patches where we switched off and we got punished.”
Baumeler’s message to the Tigers was about mental fortitude.
“We know we want to be better than that so we have to address that on the review,” he said.
“It was the mental errors that probably cost is half a dozen goals.”
