BROWNLOW Medal favourite Patrick Dangerfield has been cleared by the AFL Match Review Panel.
Dangerfield had come under scrutiny after an incident with St Kilda’s Jarryn Geary on Saturday night.
The explosive Cats midfielder’s knee made contact with Geary’s head as he was trying to get back on his feet after being tackled.
However, the AFL Match Review Panel said Dangerfield had no case to answer, stating the contact was accidental.
Dangerfield remained confident he would not face suspension, declaring there was nothing in the incident.
FOOTY FANS SURVEY: HAVE YOUR SAY ON THE GAME’S BIG ISSUES
“It’s hard to get up when someone is grabbing your leg and from my perspective the contact was very much insufficient,” Dangerfield told the Sunday Footy Show.
“You understand there is a lot of scrutiny in the game no matter what happens ... I’m not worried about it simply because I don’t think there’s anything in it, at all.”
Geary was momentarily stunned but played out the game.
In other MRP findings, Michael Firrito can accept a $1000 sanction for striking Adelaide’s Mitch McGovern.
Jacob Townsend was cleared of making contact to Mitch Robinson.
The MRP found Townsend was contesting the ball and had no realistic alternative in the incident that left Robinson concussed.
