ESSENDON ruckman Mark Jamar has been fined $1500 for abusing umpire Mathew Nicholls by the match review panel.
Jamar was reported by Nicholls after venting his frustration when he wasn’t paid a free kick in a marking contest against GWS at Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
A free kick was paid against the Bombers big man.
Nicholls was also embroiled in the Lindsay Thomas ducking controversy on Friday night when North Melbourne coach Brad Scott falsely accused the umpires of telling Kangaroos players that Thomas wouldn’t be given free kicks because he was a “ducker”.
Meanwhile, North Melbourne midfielder Jack Ziebell was cleared for his late bump on Hawthorn’s Sam Mitchell.
The MRP ruled Ziebell’s hit was made primarily to the upper chest and there was insufficient forceful high contact.
Ziebell, however, was fined $1000 for engaging in a melee after the incident along with teammate Daniel Wells and Hawthorn pair Paul Puopolo and Bradley Hill.
Melbourne’s Bernie Vince also escaped suspension but was fined $1000 for his high bump on Sydney star Luke Parker, which was assessed as careless conduct with low impact to the head.
All up the MRP issued 11 fines from Round 13.
Brisbane captain Tom Rickliff, Hawthorn’s Daniel Howe and West Coast forward Mark LeCras were fined $1000 for striking offences, and North Melbourne defender Michael Firrito and Hawthorn opponent Isaac Smith $1000 for wrestling.
