Swans go all-in: Two stars & two top picks set to unlock mega-trade

The AFL landscape is set to be flipped on its head with one of the biggest trades ever made becoming clearer as the deadline looms.

Will Hayward, Charlie Curnow and Ollie Florent look set to be part of the same trade.

Charlie Curnow has arrived at Sydney headquarters to tour the club’s facilities as a trade firms, with a pair of Swans likely to be included in a deal with Carlton.

Nine’s Tom Morris first reported Will Hayward is “open to being part of the deal, if required” after discussions with Sydney across the weekend.

AFL Media’s Callum Twomey revealed Ollie Florent is “getting his head around a move” after being told to explore his options, while Hayward “could be involved in the offer put forward to Carlton” despite previous reluctance.

SEN’s Sam Edmund went a step further on Hayward’s involvement, reporting the forward is “all but certain to be at Carlton next year” and also revealing Florent is coming to terms with being in a deal.

Hayward had interest from Carlton last year when he was out of contract before signing a five-year extension with Sydney until 2029. Florent also penned a new five-year deal with the Swans last year.

It comes after James Rowbottom drew interest from rival clubs but ruled out a trade.

Sydney now looms as Curnow’s new home for 2026 as the Swans prepare to table a package to Carlton, that could also involve their Pick 11 and a future first-round pick.

The Herald Sun reports while there’s not yet been an offer tabled to Carlton, the potential to give Pick 11 and a future first-rounder “would be of interest to the Blues.”

Curnow, who arrived at Sydney HQ with manager Robbie D’Orazio and Swans coach Dean Cox, said he was excited to see the club’s facilities.

“It’s going to be good,” Curnow said of his flying visit to Sydney.

“(We’ll) have a look around and see what happens.

“Pretty keen to have a look around, so we’ll wait and see. There’s a fair bit to play out.”

Geelong was the dual Coleman medallist’s number one preference as he seeks a trade, but the Cats’ offer of three-first round picks was rejected.

The 28-year old has four years remaining on his contract.
