IT’S not hard to see who is the early pick for 2017’s most popular SuperCoach player. And with good reason.

Dockers superstar Nat Fyfe is the only player above 50 per cent ownership after the opening week of SuperCoach as he returns from a broken leg.

A midfielder capable of punching out 130 just for fun, Fyfe is seriously under-priced for his potential output, making him a must-have this year.

Interestingly, an injury-prone banned Bomber with no history of SuperCoach success slides into second - David Myers.

Yet, at just $133,700, he’s a seasoned campaigner who’s cheaper than some draftees and should play from Round 1.

Myers’ new teammate and No.1 draft pick Andrew McGrath is equally surprising at No.5 with 43 per cent ownership given his hefty price tag but an expected Round 1 debut makes him a safe cash cow.

Hugh McCluggage, the No.3 draft pick, is close behind as he to is expected to debut in Round 1 and like McGrath has dual position status, which makes him extra appealing.

Collingwood’s Taylor Adams rounds out the top 10 after gaining defender eligibility in 2017, and with an average of 97 in the past two years, looms as a lock down back.

1. NAT FYFE ($573,500, Mid) Fremantle

Owned: 54.4%

It’s not hard to see why Fyfe is the most popular pick at this early stage. Reports are he’s back to full fitness, is capable of pumping out 130s and is $100,000 cheaper than last year.

2. DAVID MYERS ($133,700, Mid) Essendon

Owned: 49.5%

An injury-prone veteran who hasn’t played in 12 months? Myers has never been a huge SuperCoach scorer but will play Round 1 and should skyrocket in price.

3. PATRICK DANGERFIELD ($716,900, Mid) Geelong

Owned: 48.9%

The most expensive player in the game after a scintillating 2016 campaign. The only question is can you afford not to start with a bloke that averaged 132 last season?

4. MAX GAWN ($645,500, Ruck) Melbourne

Owned: 45.7%

The top priced ruckman is a set-and-forget favourite. Plug him in a watch him score 100-180 every week. We reckon the new ruck rules will even help his scoring output.

5. ANDREW McGRATH ($211,800, Def-Mid) Essendon

Owned: 43.6%

Despite a hefty price-tag, McGrath is expected to play Round 1, which at this early stage is all we’re looking for from cash cows. His role will be crucial when pre-season games kick off.

6. HUGH McCLUGGAGE ($202,800, Mid-Fwd) Brisbane

Owned: 41.2%

Another high-priced draftee but McCluggage landed at a team in transition and should play a bigger role than other high picks. Classy ball-user which bodes well for his scoring potential.

7. DAVID SWALLOW ($280,200, Mid) Gold Coast

Owned: 39.0%

If he proves his fitness in the pre-season, Swallow’s ownership will skyrocket. You simply can’t ignore a bloke who can average 100 at that price even with his injury history.

8. LUKE DAHLHAUS ($520,700, Mid-Fwd) W.Bulldogs

Owned: 38.5%

By far the favourite premium forward given his role at the Bulldogs. Plays plenty of midfield minutes and kicks a few goals to boot. The archetype SuperCoach forward.

9. LUKE RYAN ($117,300, Def) Fremantle

Owned: 34.5%

An first-round draft smokie who slide to pick No.66. The mature-age intercept/rebounding defender could walk straight into the Dockers best 22. Can he start on the field?

10. TAYLOR ADAMS ($527,800, Def-Mid) Collingwood

Owned: 32.2%

A surprise dual position player but no one is complaining. Adams has averaged 97 in his past two seasons which would have seen him finish 2016 as the fifth best defender.
