SuperCoach 2017: Champion Data reveals top five scorers against every team

TOYING with the idea of leaving Patrick Dangerfield out of your SuperCoach team? You might change your mind after reading the top five scorers against every AFL team.

KNOWING which players star against certain teams is vital intel for SuperCoach planning.

This info comes into its own when selecting your captain each week, but it shouldn’t be overlooked when selecting your starting squad before Round 1.

Thinking of starting without Patrick Dangerfield and recruiting him midway through the season after he has dropped in price? You might need to think again.

SUPERCOACH STARS: EVERY SCORE FROM DEES v BLUES, EAGLES v DOCKERS

Danger is the No.1 SuperCoach scorer against Fremantle over the past three seasons. Guess who the Cats play in Round 1?

In Round 2 against North Melbourne it’s a similar story (he scored a lazy 229 last time), and he averages 140 in recent years against Geelong’s Round 5 opponent Hawthorn — only Gary Ablett (150) has performed better against the Hawks since 2013.

The same logic applies Todd Goldstein.

Over the past three seasons Goldy has dominated against Geelong (118 average) and GWS Giants (125), both teams the Kangaroos face in the opening three rounds.

His career average against North Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent West Coast isn’t as hot but bear in mind he would have mostly matched up against Nic Naitanui — this year he’s more likely to be facing Nathan Vardy or old teammate Drew Petrie at the opening bounce.

Champion Data has crunched the numbers to reveal the top five SuperCoach scorers against every team since 2013 (players must have played at least three games against an opponent to qualify).

The likes of Dangerfield, Ablett and Goldstein feature prominently but there are some other interesting names who for some reason produce their best footy against particular opponents. Dayne Zorko is the No.1 SuperCoach scorer against Collingwood, Steele Sidebottom is an Anzac Day specialist and Travis Boak loves playing the Tigers.
