IT’S the final weekend of the NAB Challenge and the last chance for players to impress before the start of the SuperCoach season.
Herald Sun chief football writer Mark Robinson declared Dylan Shiel his best SuperCoach buy and the Giants star has justified that decision with 26 disposals, eight clearances and 119 points in his teams comfortable win over the Lions, after scoring 121 in his previous match against the Swans.
But Shiel was marginally upstaged by third-year teammates Josh Kelly, who best on ground with 32 possessions (14 contested), eight clearances, six inside-50s and 127 points.
Ruckman Shane Mumford made a remarkable recovery from injury last week and his dominance has thrown into doubt Rory Lobb’s value as a second ruck option.
Steve Johnson booted three first-half goals for 70 points before he sat out the second half.
Dayne Zorko was Brisbane’s best with 122 points from 25 disposals but his hopes of playing in Round 1 rests with the match review panel after he was reported for striking.
