IT’S the first of three bye weeks, so who stepped up or failed for our SuperCoach teams?

We look at the winners and losers from every game this weekend as trades start to run short and the battle for finals heats up.

HAWTHORN 93 def NORTH MELBOURNE 84

Hawks Studs: When the going got tough Jordan Lewis stepped up. The stand-in skipper racked up 31 touches and 129 points to lead the Hawks over the line. James Sicily kicked five goals in a best on ground performance to finish with 110, as did Sam Mitchell.

Hawks Duds: James Frawley was injured early and couldn’t recover managing just 36 points, as it Daniel Howe. Josh Gibson was far from his best scoring a miserly 49 points while popular trade target Kade Stewart couldn’t produce in his bubble week scoring 56.

Kangaroos Studs: Robbie Tarrant was a rock in defence for North and top scored with 136. Daniel Wells continues to be a sensation, collecting 30 disposals and 123 points but an ankle injury has him in doubt for next week. Mason Wood (123) and Trent Dumont (121) show the Kangaroos have plenty of young talent.

Kangaroos Duds: Luke McDonald pulled off a miracle run down of Cyril Rioli but sadly injured his hamstring in the process, finishing with 12 points. Corey Wagner scored just 34 on his AFL debut while Jamie Macmillan (52) was below his best.

WEST COAST 131 def BRISBANE 82

Eagles studs: Elliot Yeo (118) laid 11 tackles and kicked a goal against his old side, while Mark LeCras enjoyed a day out kicking four goals.

Eagles duds: Matt Priddis (76) had his nose splattered in the first quarter and struggled to have any impact under close attention from Mitch Robinson. Lewis Jetta (52) put in another mediocre performance drifting in and out of the contest. Jeremy McGovern and Shannon Hurn (both scored 68) didn’t have a lot of work to do in defence, while Sharrod Wellingham butchered (65 per cent efficiency) his 20 disposals.

Lions studs: Stef Martin (142) led the way 51 hitouts to go with 17 disposals — 100 per cent efficiency — including five clearances. Tom Rockliff (130) had the ball on a string, as did Pearce Hanley (125 from his 36 disposals), while Mitch Robinson (124) finished with a game-high 39 disposals — 11 clearances — despite tagging Priddis.

Lions duds: Youngsters Ben Keays (39) and Jarrad Jansen (60) only battled, while Daniel Rich (72) was quick to put up the white flag when Eagles tagger Mark Hutchings went to him in the second quarter.

FREMANTLE 86 def PORT ADELAIDE 69

Dockers Studs: Michael Barlow. Jeez, there’d be some SuperCoaches pulling their hair out after Saturday’s stellar performance. The Dockers midfield was on fire, top-scoring with 168. Lachie Neale bounced back from a shocker to register a massive 149. Matthew Pavlich wound back the clock to score 122.

Dockers Duds: Tanner Smith sadly did his hamstring and finished with just 24. Lachie Weller (41), Darcy Tucker (46) and Sam Collins (59) couldn’t get into the game. Let’s not talk about Tom Sheridan (60) being beaten by Zac Dawson (64).

Power Studs: Brad Ebert (110) was the only Power player to reach triple figures in a game they will feel they should have won. Jasper Pittard continued his good form as a point of difference with 96.

Power Duds: Dougal Howard has a knee injury and could face a reconstruction, finishing the game on 24 points. Darcy Byrne-Jones (49) failed to fire in a week where many were hoping he’d make some cash before trading him out next week. Instead, he’ll lose money with a breakeven of 69.

GEELONG 100 def WESTERN BULLDOGS 43

Cats Studs: Danger, Danger, Danger. The man has done it again. Patrick Dangerfield produced a blistering 173 to lead the Cats. He wasn’t alone with fellow top line talent Jimmy Bartel (130), Joel Selwood (130), Corey Enright (129) and Steven Motlop (111) running riot against the struggling Bulldogs.

Cats Duds: While his teammates dominated, it was a tough night at the office for Shane Kersten who finished with a game low 17 points. Lincoln McCarthy and Rhys Stanley were the only other Geelong players not to break at least 50.

Bulldogs Studs: On what was a tough night for his side, Matthew Suckling kept plugging away. Suckling finished with a team high 117 points. Jack Macrae (102) was the only other Bulldogs player to reach triple figures. Lachie Hunter, Lin Jong and Matthew Boyd all scored in the 90s.

Bulldogs Duds: He’s been the talk of the town as an up and coming forward but Jack Redpath couldn’t get near it on Saturday night. Redpath finished with a disappointing 29 points. It wasn’t a great night for the Package, Jake Stringer, who scored a mediocre 63.

SYDNEY SWANS 86 def MELBOURNE 31

Swans studs: Jarrad McVeigh (130) defied the conditions to operate at 84 per cent efficiency. Dean Towers (121) had a field day with 27 disposals and two goals, while Kieren Jack and Josh Kennedy, Luke Parker (game-high 17 tackles), Zac Jones and Heath Grundy relished the tough contested conditions.

Swans duds: Gary Rohan (45) and George Hewett (51) played bit-part roles. Isaac Heeney (61) laid 13 tackles but his disposals efficiency (33 per cent) let him down.

Demons studs: Max Gawn (116) dominated around the stoppages with 58 hit-outs and eight tackles to go with his 14 disposals and six clearances. Bernie Vince (104) held up his end of the bargain in the midfield to finish with 28 disposals.

Demons duds: Ben Kennedy (40) should have been suited by the wet conditions — on paper at least — but the small forward hardly got near the ball in a one-sided affair. Clayton Oliver (41) finished with 15 disposals, while Jesse Hogan (62) and Jack Trengove (67) faded in and out of the contest.

GWS GIANTS 117 def ESSENDON 90

Giants Studs: Heath Shaw overcame a slow start to post a game-high 121 as he mopped up countless Bomber attacks. Toby Greene’s four goals saw him post 114 points while Stephen Coniglio posted 111. Tom Scully continued his hot form with 104.

Giants Duds: Lachie Whitfield couldn’t get near it on Sunday, finishing with a game-low 34. Defenders Joel Patfull (44), Phil Davis (48) and Matt Buntine (49) aren’t in the team to score SuperCoach points.

Bombers Studs: Can you believe it? James Gwilt is the Bombers top scorer with 114. We’re flabbergasted. Zach Merrett kept up his fine form with 108 points to be the only other Bomber to reach triple figures.

Bombers Duds: Patrick Ambrose was rarely sighted and scored 44. Jason Ashby was a late inclusion but didn’t deliver with 53 points to his name. For those still rolling Michael Hartley, he’s going to lose plenty of cash after scoring 55.
