AFL 2024: Live updates, SuperCoach scores for Super Saturday of round 6

A Harley Reid-inspired derby boilover headlined a thrilling Super Saturday. Relive the updates and analysis, and see our SuperCoach takeaways here.

Collingwood’s Nick Daicos.
Collingwood’s Nick Daicos.

Harley Reid discovered scintillating new heights as West Coast shocked Fremantle to string together a second consecutive win, downing the Dockers by 37 points.

West Coast’s lead exceeded 60 during the blowout.

In Brisbane, Geelong extended its unbeaten run to six games, grinding out Brisbane to claim a 26-point victory in a wet and scrappy affair.

Earlier, Collingwood defeated Port Adelaide by 42 points at the MCG, before Carlton surged to a come-from-behind 19-point win over the Giants.

THE THREE TAKEAWAYS

HARLEY COULD BE A KEEPER

Some SuperCoaches had Harley Reid on the trade table early given his lacklustre start relative to the hype and expectation that comes with being a number one draft pick. He started the season slowly with scores of 78, 63, and 54.

He has since exploded however, amassing 91, 108, and now 147 in his past three games.

Despite a $44,600 price jump heading into this weekend and his price sitting just below $300,000, that number should skyrocket yet again given his breakeven was still -18 heading into Saturday night.

With premium forward options limited, he could well be a long-term premium if he maintains this form.

INTERCHANGE FRUSTRATION

Much like Reid, Fremantle defender Hayden Young has rewarded coaches that stuck with him despite a lean start to the season.

Young managed scores of 70 and 62 across his first two games, causing many - myself included - to give him the flick. He has since responded with 132, 119, and 114 in his past three outings, but managed just 79 tonight.

Keen viewers such as our very own SuperCoach expert Al Paton noticed Young spent close to the final half hour of the game on the interchange, robbing him of the chance to push towards a fourth consecutive ton. No injury has been reported at this stage.

Priced at $550,900, the score puts a halt to his price increases as he fell one short of his breakeven.

INJURY MAYHEM

SuperCoaches will be dealing with a several selection dilemmas throughout the week.

Tom Stewart was concussed just before half-time in Geelong’s win over Brisbane and finished with 62 points.

Stewart is owned by one in four coaches and his price has already fallen close to $60,000 from where it started, and will be set to plummet further given his 142 breakeven. Combine that with the fact concussion protocols rule him out for at least next week’s game at a minimum, and may be a good time to jump off Stewart and make some cash if you have the trades to spare.

In a cruel double blow for many coaches, Zac Williams was subbed out of Carlton’s clash with GWS with achilles soreness and managed just 33 points. His ownership of 59 per cent made him the third-highest owned player in action on Super Saturday.

A good cash cow many were hoping to use as a bridge to the top echelon of defensive options later in the season, Williams ($315,400) cash generation is set to take a significant hit.

In good news, his breakeven was only six so he won’t lose money, and he was seen walking in Carlton’s change rooms without a limp after the game so could well return next week.

10:45pm: Eagles-Dockers FT SuperCoach analysis

Thedamage was already done heading into the final term and the Eagles withheld a brief Freo surge to grind their way to a 47-point victory.

It’s an upset few saw coming.

Harley Reid’s monumental performance on the field correlated to a whopping 147 SuperCoach points. His price jumped by $44,600 last week and could be in for an even bigger boost

Fremantle’s Caleb Sering and Jordan Clark also put impressive games together to be rewarded with 117 and 115 points.

Nat Fyfe rallied late to bump his score 89, while ruckman Luke Jackson wasn’t at his best and finished with 90 points. Priced at $561,600, Jackson’s price dropped by $36,000 last week and will be set for another big drop given his 156 breakeven.

Popular Freo rookie Jeremy Sharp was solid with 67 points.

Dockers backs Hayden Young and Josh Draper both sit in 17 per cent of teams and 79 and 58 points respectively.

10:25pm: Sheed into game

West Coast has activated a tactical sub, with Dom Sheed coming into the game in place of Campbell Chesser.

10:20pm: Too little, too late?

Fremantle has been moving the ball far better in the final term and is slicing West Coast’s defence open at times, but one would have to imagine it’s too little too late.

Josh Treacy has kicked two majors in the final term and the Dockers have four unanswered since the break

10:18pm: Lions-Cats FT SuperCoach analysis

Typically effective match management from the Cats allowed them to grind out Brisbane late and protect their lead to finish 2 point visitors in a gritty affair at the Gabba.

Dayne Zorko was the leading SuperCoach scorer. He may have had a quiet third term, but he reemerged with a blistering fourth. His final SuperCoach score of 134 is all the more impressive when you consider 128 of those points came across three quarters. One to consider for those crying out for premium forward options.

Lions midfielders Jarrod Berry, Lachie Neale and Hugh McCluggage all cracked the ton, while Dunkley had 99 points.

Cats cheapie Jhye Clark’s $183,000 price tag is set to drop further to the dismay of coaches unable to trade him out yet. He was subbed on at half-time yet managed only 11 points from 35 per cent time on ground.

Scaling boosted Tom Stewart’s score to 62. His owners face a dilemma of whether to trade or hold given concussion protocols will rule him out for the immediate future.

Popular Cat Ollie Dempsey manged 53 points to beat his breakeven of 33 and ensure his price will tick over the $300,000 threshold.

10:05pm: Eagles-Dockers 3QT SuperCoach analysis

It’s safe to say a priority pick is out of the question.

The Eagles are back. And they’ve announced themselves in a Derby to lead Freo by 63 points with a quarter to play.

Harley Reid is the talk of the match and has a whopping 134 points already.

Sean Darcy and Caleb Sering have also shone with 96 points and 91 points respectively.

West Coast midfielder Elliot Yeo has been playing well and has 86 points from his 20 disposals. Docker Nat Fyfe also has an equal game-high 20 disposals but just 56 SuperCoach points to show.

Popular defender Luke Ryan could yet crack the ton, he has 77 points with a quarter to play.

10:00pm: Harley is motoring

What a quarter from the young gun.

He’s had seven disposals and two clearances in the third term alone, but now Reid also has his third goal of the game.

He earnt it in spectacular fashion too, soaring across the back of the pack and clunking the footy despite being unable to latch onto a stepladder to support the fly.

Reid already has 118 SuperCoach points with over a quarter to play and his Eagles lead by 51.

Talk about a coming of age.

9:56pm: Cats surging

Geelong has the only three goals of the final quarter and the last five of the game to lead Brisbane by 25-point lead.

Given the wet conditions and the lack of goals on offer, the Lions have a mountain of work to do with a touch under 12 minutes to play.

The Cats small forwards have been damaging this quarter. Tyson Stengle used his body expertly to mark behind Starcevich and goal, before great positioning and dynamic pick up from Stengle allowed him to find space out the back of a stoppage and snap accuartely.

9:49pm: Wasteful Banfield could cost Freo

You have to take your opportunities when your six goals down. You just have to.

Docker Bailey Banfield will be left ruing his misses given he has four behinds and no goals, but his latest could prove the most costly. A brilliant tackle from Banfield won a holding the ball free kick and subsequent shot on goal, but he sprayed the set shot and the Eagles scored almost instantaneously down the other end through Jamie Cripps, extending their lead to 43.

Tempers flared after the Banfield free with both sides joining a scuffle. The Dockers weren’t afraid to let West Coast captain Liam Duggan know he’s been caught holding the footy.

9:40pm: Sharp finish

Fremantle has three of the past four goals in the Derby and the first of the second-half.

This game is far from over.

Jeremy Sharp was the latest goal-scorer, unphased by his position in the pocket to cooly convert a drop punt on the run from 50m.

9:37pm: Lions-Cats 3QT SuperCoach analysis

Geelong lead by seven and a tense final quarter awaits.

Noah Answerth has emerged as a SuperCoach smokey in the game and has 92 points to his name.

Dayne Zorko’s scoring hit the wall in the third term. Despite having a respectable 85 points he added just six in that term.

Lachie Neale could be set to become a more affordable midfield option, but only slightly. He has a breakeven of 122 and 39 points shy of that with a quarter to play.

Cats forward Ollie Dempsey sits in over 20 per cent of teams and has 43 points, while sub Jhye Clark had minimal impact in his first quarter on the field with just two points.

9:30pm: It’s a Close one

The clock is ticking on three-quarter-time as Geelong and Brisbane continue to slug it out in the wet.

Brad Close was the latest player to add his name to the list of goal-scorers and the Cats subsequently lead by five.

Brisbane has kicked 11 behinds to go with its four goals while Geelong has been far more accurate with six goals from 10 scoring shots.

9:20pm: Eagles-Dockers HT SuperCoach analysis

After kicking the first seven goals of the game West Coast leads Fremantle by 37 points in the derby.

A monumental upset is on the cards.

Harley Reid has is the man of the hour, and the rookie who sits 77.8 per cent of teams is on fire and closing in on the ton fast. He has 88 points already.

Jake Waterman has also bagged four first half goals in an impressive showing and has 73 points as a result.

Dockers midfielder Caleb serong leads the way for Freo with 71 points, but teammates Nat Fyfe and Jeremy Sharp have both been underwhelming with 29 and 22 points respectively.

Luke Jackson has been solid with 47 points to his name at the half.

9:16pm: Cats draw level

Mark O’Connor has kicked a goal. It’s Geelong’s first points of the half and the match is once again tied up at a wet Gabba. O’Connor has 11 touches while his opponent Lachie Neale has 16.

9:13pm: Lions back in front

The first goal of the half and Jarrod Berry’s first of the game puts his side back out to a six-point lead. It was also Brisbane’s first goal from turnover for the night.

Geelong is yet to register a point in the second half nine minutes in.

9:05pm: Stewart subbed out

Both teams have now activated thier subs in the Lions-Cats clash with defender Tom Stewart ruled out with concussion.

It’s a big blow to SuperCoaches however he did manage 57 points in the half. It means Jhye Clark enters the game.

Despite losing money and dropping to $183,000 in value, Clark still sits in over 50 per cent of SuperCoach teams and has a breakeven of 74 to chase down.

9:00pm: Jackson nabs Dockers first

Fremantle finally has a major on the board with Luke Jackson scoring 14 minutes into the second quarter.

The Dockers have been shell-shocked by their cross-town rivals and trail seven goals to one.

Lots of work to be done by those in purple.

8:49pm: Derby boilover brewing

Six goals to zero.

No, Fremantle aren’t putting the lowly WestCoast to the sword, rather the other way around. The Eagles started slowly but were potent in converting their changes and have now claimed all the ascendancy. Williams and Long slotted goals for West Coast after the break.

8:48pm: McInerney subbed out, Stewart concussion concerns

Fox Footy’s Alistair Lynch has reported that Oscar McInerney had a cut on his right eye patched up in the changerooms but failed his subsequent concussion test. It means Brisbane’s Jarryd Lions will enter the clash for the second-half.

It comes as Geelong’s popular SuperCoach defender Tom Stewart could also be ruled out of the game with concussion. Stewart flew for a spoil on the cusp of half-time, and his head collided with the back of a Lions’ skull in the process.

8:45pm: Lions-Cats HT SuperCoach analysis

A fightback late in the first half has Geelong leading Brisbane by two points

Zorko has been far and away the greatest SuperCoach scorer in the first-half of the contest with 79 points to his name. He’s a DPP and with premium forward options far from plentiful could be on to watch. Is in just 3.8 per cent of teams.

The remaining four of the top-five half-time leaders are all in less than one per cent of teams, while Tom Stewart has had a great half to earn 57 points but could be subbed out of the game with concussion.

8:42pm: Eagles-Dockers QT SuperCoach analysis

Popular rookie Harley Reid is on track for a mammoth score if he can maintain this SuperCoach scoring, with his two goals and a goal assist rewarded with a 51-point quarter. Close to 80 per cent of coaches have him and those that don’t will be in a world of pain. I came close to trading him out a few weeks ago and very glad I didn’t.

Dockers midfielder Caleb serong has also performed with 45 points.

8:38pm: Reid ‘em and weep

Harley Reid is well and truly taking the derby by the scruff of the neck.

He’s kicked two of the Eagles four goals as they stun a dominant Freo.

He took a great two-on-one contested mark at the top of the square and converted for his first and the Eagles second, before a short-range snap found Waterman at the top of the square for a goal assist.

A free kick on the cusp of quarter-time gave the young star another set shot on a tight angle from 20 metres out and he nailed it through.

8:26pm: McInerney into rooms

The Lions could be forced to play the rest of the clash without Oscar McInerney, who has been taken to the changerooms after earlier leaving the field. It was reported on Fox Footy’s coverage he was being assessed for concussion in the rooms

Joe Daniher has shifted to the ruck in the absence of the ‘Big O’.

8:20pm: Dockers forced into early sub

Jye Amiss has been concussed and subbed out of the derby in the opening minutes.

It came after his head collided with the knee of Jeremy McGovern. Amiss lost his footing flying for a high ball close to goal.

8:12pm: Eagles strike first against Freo

Elliott Yeo is having some season, and he’s set the tone early in the derby with the opening goal, snapping quickly and accurately from the pocket with his first touch.

8:10pm: Lions-Cats QT SuperCoach analysis

Brisbane may be somewhat of an irrelevant side in the SuperCoach world without a single player in more than five per cent of teams, but its players have started strongly against Geelong.

Lincoln McCarthy was rewarded for his hot start - slotting a goal and racking up four touches of the footy in the first few minutes - with 48 points.

McInerney and Zorko were the other Lions with more than 40 points, while popular Cats defender Tom Stewart also started well.

8:00pm: Poor kicking could cost Lions

Brisbane holds a slender lead of three points after Joe Daniher failed to convert a chance for his second goal.

It was the Lions fourth behind of the night and despite controlling the contest early they only have two goals to show.

Geelong made it two goals in quick succession just minutes earlier as the ball skipped past two Lions defenders at the top of the 50m arc, leaving Ollie Henry in acres of space to convert on the run.

7:52pm: Bowes gets Cats on board

Geelong started on the back foot, spending the bulk of the game’s opening 10 minutes defending and trailing in nearly every key stat - particularly inside 50s - but some poor kicking meant Brisbane had little to show for the early ascendancy aside from two goals.

Now the Cats have nabbed one of their own back after a great finish from Jack Bowes.

7:34pm: Lions v Cats underway

The third game of a bumper Super Saturday is underway, and we weren’t made to wait for the opening goal.

29 seconds was all it took for Lincoln McCarthy to open the scoring with a major, handing Brisbane a six-point lead against Geelong.

The rain is teeming down at the Gabba and we’re in for some wet weather footy.

7:25pm: Saturday night teams locked in

Mitch Bourke here taking over the live-blogging duties for the evening games after a great shift from Shane Jones.

All four teams that are in action tonight will go in as they were named on Thursday, with no late changes sprung.

Jarryd Lyons, who returns in place of the injured Zac Bailey, has been named as Brisbane’s sub against Geelong, while Jhye Clark will start in the vest for a Geelong side that has welcomed the returns of big names Patrick Dangerfield and Tom Hawkins.

In the Derby, Dom Sheed will start as the sub for the Eagles, and Neil Erasmus for the Dockers.

7:20pm: SuperCoach analysis

It was the Sam Walsh and Patrick Cripps show and both led the Blues in SuperCoach. Cripps led everyone with 144 points. He had 39 disposals including 24 contested possessions. He was joined by Walsh who had 35 disposals and scored 131 points. The duo had 74 disposals and won them the game. The best player for the Giants in SuperCoach was Josh Kelly. He scored 133 points after kicking three goals and getting 23 disposals. Kelly was one of only three players in the top-ten. It was a disappointing day for SuperCoach players with Tom Green. He had 29 disposals but only scored 82 points. He might be a player traded out by a lot of teams this week. Toby Greene also struggled and scored just 61 points.

7:15pm: Carlton ends Giants unbeaten run

Carlton has ended the Giants five-game winning streak to start the season, beating GWS by 19 points at Marvel Stadium. The Blues kicked eight straight goals in the third and fourth term to overcome a 20 point deficit to win. It was a fantastic performance by the Blues. Score: 17.15.(117) to 15.8.(98).

7:10pm: GWS fights back

The Giants have kicked the last two goals and have reduced the margin to 19 points with 3:40 left in the game. Surely it’s too late for them to win the game?

7:05pm: Cripps takes the lead

Patrick Cripps is now on 129 points and he’s been the best for Carlton today. He’s had 37 disposals for the game, including seven this term. It’s been a day out.

6:55pm: Hammer blow for Giants?

Harry McKay makes a great tackle and then kicks another goal for the Blues. The team has kicked eight goals in a row and lead by 28 points. There is still 11 minutes in the game to go but this game feels like it is almost over.

6:48pm: Sub made for the Giants

Xavier O’Halloran has been subbed out of the game by the Giants. He has been replaced by James Peatling. O’Halloran scored 22 points before he was taken off.

6:45pm: SuperCoach analysis

Sam Walsh did crack 100 points at one stage but finished on 97, alongside Patrick Cripps, his teammate. Walsh had 12 disposals in the third term and Cripps had 11 to bring Carlton to the front in the contest. Both look likely to score 120+ plus points. Josh Kelly leads overall with the Giant on 104 points after kicking three goals for the match. Tom De Koning has also had a good game, kicking three goals and scoring 99 points in SuperCoach. It’s a massive final term for Tom Green who is only on 57 points.

6:40pm: Blues lead at final change

Carlton kicks six straight goals in the third term and lead by 15 points at the final change. GWS has a challenge on its hands to maintain their unbeaten streak. Score: 14.10.(94) to 12.7.(79).

6:37pm: Walsh crack the century

For the second week in succession, Sam Walsh has scored 100 points in SuperCoach. His return has been brilliant since his back injury.

6:35pm: Blues right on top

The momentum swings in football continue to be incredible. Carlton has kicked six goals in a row and now lead by 17 points. Charlie Curnow and Harry McKay have combined for five goals this quarter. The Blues are on track to end the Giants run.

6:30pm: Carlton now leads

Four goals in a row for Carlton has the Blues in the lead. Carlton leads by four points with just under five minutes left in the quarter.

6:28pm: Carlton fights back

Just when you think Carlton is going to be blown away, the Blues fight back. GWS got out to a 20-point lead but Carlton responds with three goals. The margin is just two points. Patrick Cripps has been one of the leaders this term with seven disposals. He is now on 83 SuperCoach points.

6:22pm: Kelly is the first to 100

When a wingman kicks three goals, you know he is going to have a good day in SuperCoach. Josh Kelly has kicked two goals this term, to add to the one he scored in the first half, to crack 100 SuperCoach points. It’s the third time this season he has scored 100 and is on track for his best score of the year.

6:20pm: GWS keeps leading

The difference in the game is simple. The Giants are taking their chances in front of goal with Carlton struggling to take their opportunities. GWS kicks a vital goal in the middle of the term to lead by 14 points.

6:05pm: Sub made for the Blues

Zac Williams has been subbed out of the contest by Carlton. Jack Carroll replaces him. Carlton says Williams suffered a knock to his achilles and that has forced him out of the game. Williams only scored 31 and it will be a big blow to a lot of teams.

5:50pm: SuperCoach analysis

Patrick Cripps has had one of his best halves for Carlton this year and leads all SuperCoach players with 65 points. He’s had 19 disposals with 11 of them contested. Nic Newman has also had a good first term, rising up the rankings late, to finish second with 64. He’s had 16 disposals. Lachie Ash was the best Giants player with 62 points and was joined by Josh Kelly who had 60 himself in the first half. It was a tough half for Tom Green who only had 30 points. Popular SuperCoach player Zac Williams is only on 31.

5:45pm: Giants lead at half time

GWS opened up a 22-point lead during the second term before Carlton responded late with two goals. The margin is nine points in what has been a cracking contest between two good teams. Score: 9.4. (58) to 7.7. (49).

5:41pm: Carlton lift late in second term

Two quick goals from the Blues has them back in the contest.

5:37pm: Midfielders lead for Carlton

Sam Walsh and Patrick Cripps are the leading players for Carlton in SuperCoach. Both are on 50 and are the only two with 50 or more for Carlton. Tom De Koning has kicked two goals for the Blues and the ruckman should be moving past 50 points in SuperCoach for the game.

5:30pm: Giants take control of the contest.

And now it’s an avalanche of Giants goals. The Giants have kicked four goals this term to lead by 16 points. This is some term from GWS. Are we seeing a second premiership statement made today. In terms of SuperCoach, Jesse Hogan and Josh Kelly have both cracked 50 points. Hogan is on 54 with Kelly on 53. Hogan has kicked two goals with Kelly kicking one and having seven disposals.

5:25pm: GWS takes the lead

The Giants have kicked the first two goals of the term to lead by four points. Their pressure is starting to have a major impact on the game, giving them the chance to use their Orange Tsunami wave to score.

5:13pm: SuperCoach analysis

A goal and six disposals for Matt Cottrell has him leading all point scorers with 42 at the first break. Patrick Cripps is the next best on 38 for the Blues. For the Giants, Jesse Hogan has 35 with Josh Kelly next on 31. It’s been a tough quarter for Tom Green (16), Charlie Curnow (4) and Callum Brown (8) who will need to do better to make their SuperCoach coaches happy.

5:08pm: Close contest early

Carlton leads at quarter time but GWS are right in the hunt. A late goal to GWS forward Toby Bedford reduced the margin to one goal at quarter time. Score: 5.1. (31) to 4.1. (25).

5:00pm: Cripps takes the lead in SuperCoach

It’s been a strong start to the game for Patrick Cripps with 34 points heading into the final stages of the first term. He has eight disposals and three tackles.

4:50pm: Carlton is on top early

Two quick goals to Carlton, after it went goal for goal early, has the Blues leading by seven in the middle of the term – 19-12. The tall key players are leading SuperCoach early with Marc Pittonet (32) the best for the Blues and Jesse Hogan (33) the best for the Giants after kicking an early goal.

4:40pm: SuperCoach wrap – Collingwood v Port Adelaide

Dan Houston led the way with 142 SuperCoach points after having 28 disposals, four marks and one tackle. It’s his sixth straight 100-point game and his highest score of the season. Nick Daicos had a big second half to finish on 134 points. He scored at least 90 points in the second half and went from outside of the top-10 at half time to finish in second among the point scorers. He had 30 disposals. Zak Butters also had a great game to finish on 128, right on his average for the year. Patrick Lipinski and Will Hoskin-Elliott scored their first 100 point games in two years, finishing on 115 and 113 respectively. In terms of those who disappointed, Connor Rozee had his first game under 100 for the year with 65. His role at half forward did not help SuperCoach coaches. Josh Daicos (78) also struggled to get to his average of more than 90 for the season. Jason Horne-Francis also scored well short of his average with 86.

4:28pm: Premiership statement

Collingwood are back and in a big way. The Pies smash Port Adelaide by 42 points at the MCG. Collingwood were down by 31 points at one stage before kicking 11 of the next 12 goals to storm to the lead. The Pies were never threatened after, winning in their best performance of the season. Score: 17.21. (123) to 12.9. (81).

4:23pm: Late injury concern?

SuperCoach coaches with Jason Horne-Francis might have a nervous week ahead of them. He has gone off the ground and is talking to the trainer, clutching at his hamstring. He has missed games with hamstring concerns before. Hopefully it is minor.

4:16pm: Collingwood are home

Reef McInnes makes an immediate impact, kicking his first goal of the game. Collingwood leads by 31 and will not be caught by Port Adelaide.

4:14pm: 10,000 disposals will have to wait

Collingwood has made sure Scott Pendlebury will celebrate his 10,000 disposal milestone on Anzac Day after subbing him off. He fell four disposals short after getting 19 in the match. Reef McInnes is on to replace him.

4:12pm: One last twist?

Mitch Georgiades kicks a goal from five metres in front and Port reduces the margin to 23 with just under eight minutes to go.

4:07pm: Pendlebury still short of milestone

Scott Pendlebury needs six disposals to bring up 10,000 disposals in his career. He has 17 in the game and 48 SuperCoach points.

4:03pm: Port are coming back

Port Adelaide has kicked the first goal of the final term and the margin is 28 points. There is still plenty of time if the Power can kick a couple of quick goals.

4:00pm: Subs finalised for next match

Carlton and GWS have locked in their subs for the next match of Saturday’s quadruple header. And it’s a repeat of last week for both clubs. Carlton has picked Jack Carroll again after being the sub last week while GWS has done the same, picking James Peatling after he impressed as the sub last week against St Kilda.

3:54pm: SuperCoach analysis

Dan Houston is fast becoming a key player in SuperCoach. He has 113 points at ¾ time and is the leading player on the ground. 3:44pm: Sub made for Port

Jordan Sweet is off after a solid debut for the Power. He has been replaced by sub Jed McEntee. Sweet scored 61 points before he was subbed off. Not a bad score for a rookie listed player.

3:43pm: Houston first to 100

Port Adelaide’s Dan Houston is the first player to score 100 points in the game. His team might not be playing well right now but he’s been one of the best for the team.

3:41pm: Daicos is running riot

Collingwood is well on top now and Nick Daicos is having a strong quarter. He had nine disposals to half time and now has 17 for the game after eight in the third term. Daicos has 75 SuperCoach points. The Pies lead by 34 points.

3:35pm: Lipinski on track for 100

Collingwood midfielder Patrick Lipinski has kicked three goals in the match and extends the Pies lead to 26 points. Lipinski has 90 points and is on track for his first 100 point score since 2022.

3:30pm: Port breaks drought

Collingwood kicked eight goals in a row before Port finally got one back in anger. Collingwood leads by 19 points. The key has been Collingwood getting their transition game from defence to attack going and the midfield getting on top. Jordan De Goey is also starting to get back to his best form, with 19 disposals in the contest.

3.20pm: Port in trouble?

Collingwood has now kicked the last seven goals of the game and lead by 19 points. This is danger signs for Port Adelaide. The game of the Pies is back in a big way.

2:56pm: Pies resurgence in SuperCoach.

This has to be one of Will Hoskin-Elliott’s best halves of his career. He has 12 disposals, nine marks and two goals to be on 73 SuperCoach points. Darcy Cameron is on 72.

2:52pm: Pies now lead

What a quarter by Collingwood! The Pies now lead after kicking five goals in a row. They are playing the same football which led them to the premiership last year. They’ve also stabilised the dominance of Port’s midfield. Butters has only had two disposals this term after 15 in the first quarter.

2:50pm: Game on!

Collingwood are right back into this contest. The Pies have kicked three-in-a-row, including a goal to Mason Cox, and the margin is down to seven. Collingwood was down by 31 points at one stage.

Collingwood ruckman Darcy Cameron is now the number one SuperCoach player on the ground. He’s on 63 points with 14 disposals, three marks and nine hit-outs.

2:30pm: Butters and De Goey leads

Zak Butters might have had leather poisoning in the first term but Jordan De Goey has also scored well to be right behind him after the first term. Butters got 46 points after having 15 disposals. De Goey got 45 with 10 disposals, two marks and three tackles. It was also a good quarter for Darcy Cameron with the ruckman getting 40 points. 2:04pm: Port’s got their kicking boots on

What a five minute spell from Port Adelaide. Miles Bergman kicks a brilliant goal, checkside, from 45 metres out before Dan Houston kicks another fine goal. The Power leads by 19 points. The goal for Bergman now has him as the SuperCoach points leader with 28.

1:54pm: Scrappy start early

It’s been a tight contest early with no goals in the opening seven minutes of game play. Port Adelaide midfielder Zak Butters finally breaks the deadlock and gets the first goal of the game. Port lead by seven. Butters, in terms of SuperCoach is on 19 with Jordan De Goey starting well with 14 points.

1:45pm: Game underway

The game has started. There will be a major watch on Scott Pendlebury. He needs 23 disposals to bring up 10,000 in the competition. And will be the only player in AFL history to do it. The former captain got one disposal in the opening minute of the game.

1:35pm: SuperCoach watch

All eyes will be on Port Adelaide’s midfield trio – Zak Butters, Connor Rozee and Jason Horne-Francis. The trio are the highest picked for the team among SuperCoach players. And all have been in good form this season. All three average over 100 points in SuperCoach with Butters averaging more than 127. The focus on Collingwood’s player is obviously SuperCoach star Nick Daicos with more than 70 per cent of coaches having him. He still averaged more than 100 a game but his return compared to last year hasn’t been at the same level. The other focus is on rookie, Port Adelaide’s Jordan Sweet, who comes in for his first game this season. He’s a ruckman at $158,700 and about seven per cent of coaches have him.

1:20pm: Subs locked in for massive clash.

Collingwood and Port Adelaide have locked in their subs for the clash at the MCG. And both are forwards. Reef McInnes is the sub for Collingwood with Jed McEntee the sub for Port Adelaide. Game starts in 25 minutes.

1.15pm: Welcome to the live blog.

The announcement of subs will be in the next post.
