Tiger carnage continued while SuperCoach stars failed to perform, but it was the looming suspension of Harley Reid that rocked the league today. Recap the game as it happened and all the key SuperCoach takeaways.

Richmond’s carnage continues as injury looms for Mykelti Lefau and Marlion Pickett, while the Rising Star favourite is in hot water.

Lefau has been sent for scans on his knee, while the extent of the injury remains unknown however Adem Yze forecasted a stint on the sidlelines for the emerging forward.

Super Saturday proved to be an interesting day for SuperCoaches following low-scoring performances from popular selections Jordan Dawson and Tom Stewart.

One shining light, however, is the POD players who could prove to be the difference in the bye rounds.

Here are three takeaways from the match alongside a full recap of the contest.

THREE SUPERCOACH TAKEAWAYS

IN STRIFE?

It’s the talk of the town - will Reid face a stint on the sidelines? The rookie remains in 56% of teams, and may join fellow Rising Star fancy Sam Darcy on the sidelines following a dangerous tackle on Darcy Wilson. Only one game remained before his bye, but the way he was performing warranted a hold across the bye period for many. With the forward crop remaining sparse this year, it will be a blow for many SuperCoaches as well as Harley.

Changkuoth Jiath was too reported for headbutting, but is owned by only 328 following a restricted season.

STARS FALL

Jordan Dawson caused strife for many with news that he may be a late out. He passed his fitness test but appeared hindered throughout his match up with the Hawks, recording only 55 SuperCoach points. It comes after three games of scoring 100+ and is certainly unfortunate for those who have just traded him in, but if that’s you, I’m sure you paid up with hopes of holding him for the remainder of the year. Stick to the plan. Rowan Marshall (85) and Tom Stewart (76) were also underwhelming, with the latter especially raising eyebrows on whether or not he remains the solid SuperCoach option he once was.

RISE OF THE PODS

While popular picks failed to fly, point of difference players proved how vital they will be to improve your rank across the bye rounds. Max Holmes (133, 8% owned) and Jeremy McGovern (113, 6% owned) both rewarded the brave coaches who brought them in on the back of their 100+ averages. Dylan Moore (169, 3% owned) also threw himself back in the mix in a difficult SuperCoach year for forward options, but if you bring him in you will have to be ready to hold as his breakeven was high at 145 this week.

FT SuperCoach Analysis:

The Cats rose in the second half, resulting in high scores for plenty of Cats.

Notably, Stewart (76) failed to break the ton, with Holmes proving to be the better SuperCoach pick.

Both Holmes and Bowes boast DEF/MID status, while DPP counterpart Demspey (FWD/MID) recorded his highest score of the year with 27 disposals and three goals.

McAuliffe (68) struggled to score after half time and Smith only managed five points with limited time on ground, but Brown (70) delivered once again.

Baker overcame an early niggle to record 103 point, Nankervis broke the ton for the third week in a row.

FT SuperCoach Scores: Geelong v Richmond

10.10PM: TON UP

Six Cats have recorded scores over 100 after an emphatic second half, which saw Atkins (7), Bowes (7) and Holmes (4) dominate the clearances.

Bowes sits on 149 points, with his previous highest score 146.

Holmes is proving to be a quality POD option, amplified by his DPP status, while Dempsey has well surpassed his 76 breakeven.

10.06PM: LATE CARNAGE

Jake Kolodjashnij and Lefau have been caught up in a huge clash.

Lefau has gone to the bench to have his right knee assessed, while it has been confirmed that Pickett is suffering from calf tightness.

Richmond might have truly run out of players, now ...

10.03PM: NOW IT COULD BE OVER

The Tigers have been unable to match Geelong’s pressure and clearance effort in the second half, and a goal to Stengle off transition should see Geelong break their losing streak.

9.55PM: SMITH IN

Kaleb Smith has been activated for his debut in the place of the cramping Marlion Pickett.

He is $123,900 with a breakeven of 24.

9.52PM: GAME OVER?

Goals to Hawkins and Close feel like the final blow, with the Tigers recording only 1% time in forward half this quarter.

There is plenty of time yet to play, but if Richmond is unable to get it’s hands on the ball, it could be over for them.

3QT SuperCoach Analysis:

The Tigers are still in the game, but will need to bring the heat once more to survive the final term.

Holmes and Bowes were emphatic for Geelong, leading to a rise in their SuperCoach output.

If Dusty manages to rally his troops, could he provide a bye-round boost for the 2% of coaches who own him?

McAuliffe has slowed, but is yet to make plenty of cash. His team will need him, though, of they are to take the four points back down the highway.

3QT SuperCoach Scores: Geelong v Richmond
3QT SuperCoach Scores: Geelong v Richmond

9.20PM: ROOKIE REWARDS

Dempsey remains in 11% of teams, and a brilliant soccer-style goal gives him an equal career-high three for the game.

He sits on 74 points.

9.16PM: DUSTY DOES IT AGAIN

Just as the game seemed to be slipping away from the Tigers, enter Dusty.

Only 45 SuperCoach points so far, but with Bolton, Prestia and Taranto among those missing, he may have to be the one to lift his team to victory once more.

The Tigers still trail the clearance count for the quarter 8-1 - could we see him move to the middle?

9.10PM: CATS REPLY

Geelong have had the first five clearances, are winning the ground ball gets 6-1 and Jack Bowes has just kicked their third goal of the term and is responsible for three clearances.

The Cats’ pressure has lifted, and both Bowes and Holmes seem to be the SuperCoach beneficiaries.

HT SuperCoach Analysis

Richmond controlled the second term but were unable to convert as Geelong fought back late.

SuperCoach rookie McAuliffe (66) is set for a cash injection, stepping up in the absence of key midfielders, while Dempsey (57) will reward those who held for the byes.

fellow rookie Tom Brown (13) may need to be traded next week if you’re one of 10% of coaches who hasn’t already moved him on.

Toby Nankervis (80 pts) is stringing together a nice season, with a current average of 103.6.

Stewart and Holmes lead the way for the Cats - both on track to break the ton.

Jeremy Cameron (31) has not been an inside 50 target for the Cats, so if this changes in the next term, his output could increase.

Richmond is +6 in clearances and +10 in tackles.

HT SuperCoach Scores: Geelong v Richmond
HT SuperCoach Scores: Geelong v Richmond

8.34PM: ROHAN ACTIVATED

Rohan is subbed into the game for Ollie Henry, who has hamstring awareness.

Luckily for the Cats, t is a like-for-like switch.

In other news, McAuliffe just received another free-for - stocks up!

8.33PM: REWARD FOR EFFORT

Richmond have dominated the term, and a goal to Samson Ryan sees them rewarded for their efforts.

The Tigers have had 41% of time in possession in the last ten minutes compared to the Cats’ 41%.

They are also +7 in clearances, following suit from their efforts against Essendon last week.

8.28PM: TACKLE OR BUST

The Tigers have now recorded seven tackles inside fifty to zero.

McAuliffe was rewarded for his efforts with a shot on goal, but failed to convert ... he will keep the points for the free against, though.

In other news, the rain has well and truly set in. How will this impact Stewart’s intercept ability?

Kane McAuliffe is priced at $198,100 in SuperCoach. Photo by Dylan Burns/AFL Photos via Getty Images.

8.22PM: STEWART FLIES

It appears to be Noah Cumberland who has the match up with Stewart.

The SuperCoach favourite has started the second term well and has taken three intercept marks this quarter.

Meanwhile, a goal to Tanner Bruhn has reduced the margin to 14 points.

QT SuperCoach Analysis:

Richmond’s pressure has been immense, rated at 200 compared to Geelong’s 183.

Jack Graham is leading the way with six tackles and 46 points.

There is no evident tag on Tom Stewart, but he has recorded only 15 points - can he pull off a resurgence reminiscent of last week, or will he fail to crack the ton once more?

It is the first time the Tigers have led at quarter time since their Round Five loss against the Eagles.

McAuliffe ($198,100) is proving to be a worth the extra cash as a cash-generating rookie.

QT SuperCoach Scores: Geelong v Richmond
QT SuperCoach Scores: Geelong v Richmond

8.03PM: CATS RESPOND

Mitch Duncan gives the Cats a reply, lessening the blow right before the quarter time siren.

He has been immense, with 36 points.

Max Holmes is the fifth ranked SuperCoach defender based on five-round averages (110.8), and sitting on 30 points, he continues to press his case as a dangerous POD player.

7.50PM: HOLDING THE BALL

Personally, I felt like the rule changes didn’t quite make it to Perth this afternoon ... but GMHBA is just a short trip down the highway, and the message has arrived loud and clear.

Will the players adapt early or will be see plenty of frees for, and against?

Kamdyn McIntosh has just been pinged, but should comfortably surpass his -13 break even.

Rookie McAuliffe sits on 26 points with three clearances in the absence of both Dion Prestia and Shai Bolton.

He was traded in by 5,121 coaches this week.

7.38PM: GAME ON

It’s a goal a piece after four minutes of play at GMHBA Stadium.

Mykelti Lefau leads the scoring early with 23 points and a break even of only 44.

If you’re one of only 40 coaches who traded him in this week, you can breathe a sigh of relief - Tim no longer owns him.

Kaleb Smith and Gary Rohan have been named as the substitutes.

Debutant Smith was almost activated early, with Liam Baker heading down to the rooms, although he is now back on the field.

FT: SUPERCOACH ANALYSIS

Harley Reid owners will be left severely disappointed after Harley Reid finished on just 71 SuperCoach points. Reid had over 80 in the first half alone but a brilliant tagging role from Marcus Windhager to blanket the rookie and a number of costly free kicks conceded impacted his scoring heavily.

Fellow rookie Darcy Wilson also finished well below his breakeven of 87 to finish on 54 points aftera quiet final term where he scored just nine points.

On a positive note, Jack Steele came home with a wet sail to score 119 points.

POD Mason Wood was also immense with a game-high 139 points to rewards his 321 owners.

Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera scored his fifth consecutive ton - just - with 102 points, and Rowan Marshall was once again below his best with 84 points.

West Coast’s Elliot Yeo was solid with 95 but still below his best. With a breakeven of 190 and three consecutive scores below 100, he;s set to be a very affordable pick-up if he rediscovers his early season form.

7:14pm: SAINTS CLINCH CRITICAL WIN

St Kilda has held on in a nail-biter against the Eagles to clinch a 14-point victory.

The win is their fourth of the season and came off the back of a great second half performance.

7:08pm: COSTLY DOWNFIELD

What loomed as a career-best outing has transformed into an evening of learning for Harley Reid.

He may find himself in MRO trouble following a tackle that cause Darcy Wilson’s head to hit the turf with force, and he’s now given away back-to-back free kicks, including a costly downfield free that handed St Kilda a critical goal.

The late contact Reid made to give away the downfield was minimal, and will no doubt be a contentious talking point throughout the week.

St Kilda leads by 14 points.

7:03pm: FAR FROM OVER

Jack Darling’s clinical outside-of-the-boot conversion from a tight angle has West Coast within nine points with six minutes and change to play. Darling has two goals this evening.

6:59pm: ON A ROLL

MItchito Owens rolls into the forward 50 and floats an awkward left foot kick to the top of the square which Mason Wood plucks superbly and converts.

Wood now has three majors and has been immense in Max King’s absence, while St Kilda has four unanswered goals, with West Coast held scoreless since Jamie Cripps’ goal inside the opening minute of the quarter. Saints lead by 15.

6:53pm: SAINTS IN FRONT

Jack Higgins first goal of the match couldn’t have come at a more crucial time, with his effort handing St Kilda a slender two-point lead.

6:46pm: WOOD!

St Kilda forward Mason Wood got some air time on the back of Reuben Gibney and held the grab. The goal puts the Saints within five points of the Eagles.

6:43pm: SAINTS BLOW

Max King has been subbed out of the game for St Kilda after sustaining a knee injury. Sub Dan Butler will enter the game in his absence.

3QT: SUPERCOACH ANALYSIS

Dreams of a monster score from Harley Reid owners have been quelled after he went backwards in the third term to finish the quarter on 78 points.

Darcy Wilson enjoyed a great quarter to jump from just 13 points to 45.

Rowan Marshall was also much improved to jump to 54 points, while Nasaiah Wanganeen-Milera finished on 73 points and Elliott Yeo 63.

6:34pm: REID’S DANGEROUS TACKLE

Harley Reid could find himself in trouble with the MRO after a possibly dangerous tackle on St Kilda’s Darcy Wilson that caused the opposing rookie’s head to collide with the turf with force.

“That’s a tackle we have to take out of the game, it’s the sling, head hits the ground, it’s everything we don’t want,” said David King on Fox Footy’s coverage of the match.

If Reid is suspended over the tackle, it would leave him ineligible to win this year’s Rising Star, an award he his otherwise a near certainty to take home at the end of the season.

The incident came as Reid has been restricted to two disposals and no clearances in the second term. It was a far cry from his scintillating second quarter.

6:30pm: EAGLES SWING SUB

West Coast has made a tactical sub. It means Jack Williams has been pulled out of the game and Zane Trew will be given his chance to have an impact.

6:29pm: RYAN’S FLYIN’

Talk about swings and roundabouts.

The Eagles had a barely had a sniff all quarter, but they’ve now regained a six-point lead with four-and-a-half minutes to play in the third term. The turnaround was largely thanks to some Liam Ryan magic.

The livewire sidestepped the man on the mark from close-range for the first, before a great effort off the ground for his second.

6:25pm: SAINTS IN FRONT

St Kilda has turned the tide back in its favour in the third term with three unanswered goals.

Jack Sinclair was the latest Saint to split the sticks, his goal coming after Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera almost forced a miracle dribble-goal from the pocket with an exception forward 50 spoil.

David King reported on Fox Footy’s coverage that both sides have a pressure rating of above 200, an almost unheard of feat. We have a serious game on our hands.

Max King also returned to the field for the Saints after an extended period on the interchange and lengthy discussions with the club doctor.

HT: SUPERCOACH ANALYSIS

For the second time in three weeks, Harley Reid owners are set to be rewarded to the extreme. The young star already has a whopping 89 SuperCoach points at half-time. Scroll through some of the latest updates to read more about his dominance.

After a scarily slow start, Jack Steele rallied with a mammoth second quarter to lift his total to 57 points. He had just five at quarter-time.

SuperCoaches that have held Saints rookie Darcy Wilson are set for a painful price drop from the youngster who has just 13 points to the half. Another Saint in Rowan Marshall is also struggling with just 19 points.

Elliott Yeo is on track for a handy score with 57 points, while Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera is also going okay with 42 points.

5:44pm: EAGLES FINISH HALF IN A FLURRY

A tense affair has been blown open in the shadows of half-time.

The Eagles split the sticks twice in the final minutes to take a 14-point lead into the break.

The first goal came via a deadeye set shot conversion that was squeezed through by Jamie Cripps, before Liam Ryan got his boot onto a loose ball out the back and soccered it through.

5:38pm: REID CONTINUES TO IMPRESS

His praises have been sung, and sung, and then sung some more, but this kid really is a special talent.

His physicality throughout the past few minutes has been on another level and he’s manhandling the men around him.

He even threw Rowan Marshall to the ground effortlessly to win a holding the ball free kick. He’s shot to a whopping 85 SuperCoach points inside the opening half and is leading the match with 17 disposals, as well seven clearances and six tackles.

Wow.

5:33pm: WE’VE GOT A GAME ON OUR HANDS

The Eagles and Saints are proving very hard to split at Optus Stadium.

Jamie Cripps monster set shot from the arc was the latest goal in a see-sawing affair, handing West Coast a four-point lead.

5:20pm: SOUND THE ALARM SUPERCOACHES

The second SuperCoach crisis of the day is looming large.

After Jordan Dawson managed just 55 SuperCoach points earlier today, Jack Steele also looks to be well below his best, and has just 16 points as the midway point of the second term nears.

Steele sits in just under a quarter of SuperCoach teams, and those that own both him and Dawson (myself) could be in for a very painful round.

QT: SUPERCOACH ANALYSIS

A Jordan Ridley-esque trade looms large for a bold 88 SuperCoaches.

Last week, the very few that decided to bring Ridley in before his first game of the season were rewarded with a monster score of 162.

Those that took the punt on ruckman Matt Flynn ahead of his first game could well be rewarded in a similar vein, with the once-popular SuperCoach ruckman racking up 48 points in the first quarter alone.

Another once-popular defender in Alex Witherden - now in under 500 teams - has also caught fire early with 40 points.

Harley Reid start was far from his worst with 27 points, while alarm bells should be ringing for Darcy Wilson and Jack Steele owners. The rookie Wilson has 11 points, while Steele has only five.

5:04pm: EAGLES ONE-TWO PUNCH DENIED

Harley Reid and Elliott Yeo have established themselves as West Coast’s one-two punch out of the middle - and they very nearly combined for a spectacular goal.

Reid burst out of the centre square and turned his opponent inside out before handing out to Yeo, who roosted it on the run from outside 50m as a chorus of cheers rang around Optus Stadium.

Saints defender Dougal Howard had other ideas however, parking his fist in front of the footy on the goal-line to rein in the celebrations.

4:57pm: GAFF’S BACK

Andrew Gaff has endured one of his more testing seasons in 2024. He was subbed out after a poor half in round one and left out of a battling Eagles side since.

He’s marked his recall with a crucial early goal - the Eagles of the match - to hand them a one-point lead.

4:47pm: HARLEY’S AT IT AGAIN

His double fend against Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver a fortnight ago went viral, and now Harley Reid has showcased his unassuming strength once again, shrugging off Jack Steele in the middle of the contest.

The Eagles are struggling early against St Kilda and are still scoreless with 11 minutes to play in the first term.

4:38pm: KING FIRES

West Coast’s clas against St Kilda is underway, and the Saints have drawn first blood.

The opening goal came courtesy of out-of-form forward Max King, who was held before a marking contest and subsequently awarded a free kick well within his range.

FT: SUPERCOACH ANALYSIS

There were some serious high and lows in the realm of SuperCoach following the Hawks dominant showing.

Dylan Moore’s owners are rejoicing after his monster five-goal, 169-point effort.

Massimo D’Ambrosio was also superb, going at over 80 per cent disposal efficiency for 103 points to reward the 18.2 per cent of coaches that still own him.

Hawthorn’s Will Day is in less than one per cent of teams but he impressed with 107 points, as did Adelaide’s Lachie Sholl who notched the same total.

Reilly O’Brien (112), Mitch Hinge (111) and Jai Newcombe (110) also impressed.

Onto the negatives, Jordan Dawson was clearly carrying and went largely unsighted throughout the contest, managing a lowly 55 points. He had a breakeven of 100 so his $626,900 price tag is set to plummet. If you don’t own him he could be a very affordable pick-up in weeks to come, but spare a thought for those that traded him in this week.

4:17pm: THAT WAS SPECIAL

Dylan Moore burst out of the centre and with space in front of him a sixth major was on the cards - but he opted to hit Jack Gunston lace out on the chest. Talk about a sense of occasion.

It allowed for the Hawks champion to slot his third major in his 250th outing and his teammates loved it, surging from all corners of the ‘G to get around him and celebrate.

Victory is a sure-thing now with a 27-point lead despite a late Crows surge, and it will mean the Hawks have won for of their past five. Their pressure was exceptional today.

Finals anyone?

4:06pm: TOO LITTLE, TOO LATE?

A serious blowout has loomed large numerous times throughout this clash, but the Crows continue to refuse to roll over.

Their latest major, courtesy of Chayce Jones, has cut the margin back to 26 with six-and-a-half minutes to play.

They wouldn’t be the first Adelaide team to pull off the impossible against the Hawks this season.

3:50pm: EAGLES-SAINTS FINAL TEAMS

West Coast has made alate change ahead of its clash with St Kilda. Red-hot Jake Waterman has been ruled out, with Jack Williams taking his place.

Zane Trew is the Eagles sub, while it will be Dan Butler for St Kilda.

3:47pm: HAWKS ACTIVATE SUB

For the second week running Calsher Dear has been subbed out for the Hawks.

The move paves the way for Luke Breust to enter the match and play alongside long-time partner-in-crime Jack Gunston in his 250th match.

3QT: SUPERCOACH LEADERS

Dylan Moore is well and truly going nuclear.

The Hawks forward’s five-goal has equated to a whopping 140 SuperCoach points with a quarter still to play.

Jai Newcombe and Mitchell Hinge have also been among the best with 91 and 88 points respectively.

Jordan Dawson continues to struggle with just 44 points, while Massimo D’Ambrosio has 71.

Following a monster third term, Crow Matt Crouch has shot to 75 points. He sits in 7.7 per cent of SuperCoach sides.

4:42pm: GINNI THE SIREN-BEATER

Jack Ginnivan needed that, and so did the Hawks.

The livewire’s handy snap means he now has two majors for the game after some poor misses. It also allowed the Hawks to regain a sniff of momentum heading into the final change of ends, dampening Adelaide’s five-goal quarter.

Ginni loved it too, smashing his chest and yanking at his jumper in an ecstatic celebration. Hawthorn lead by 33 points.

3:38pm: GAME ON!

“The Crows are coming!” Anthony Hudson called it beautifully.

For the second time this quarter, they’ve found a run of momentum when they had no right to, and three goals on the trot mean the Crows have five of the past six majors and five goals to four for the quarter.

There was some exceptional finishing mixed in there too, punctuated by Chayce Jones’ latest effort where he weaved around a defender on the boundary and snapped from a testing angle as superbly as he cut back in.

3:33pm: HAWKS LEAD BY 44, BUT IT COULD BE MORE

Jack Ginnivan has enjoyed a strong showing and already has 17 disposals with a quarter to play. Finishing and decision-making have let the young forward down however.

He’s kicked one goal and three behinds with two other attempts at goal failing register a score.

His latest behind was particularly damning. Ginnivan used his body superbly to win the ball in acres of space out of the back. He had time - and open teammates streaming towards goal - but rushed a dribbler off the outside of the boot from 30m out and it skipped through for a behind.

3:27pm: REEVES RETURNS

Hawthorn’s Ned Reeves was seen limping from the ground earlier and there were concerns over whether he would be able to continue. Those have been allayed however, and he’s returned to the field of play, albeit with a heavily strapped ankle.

3:24pm: HIGH FIVE DYLAN

Dylan Moore can do wrong right now.

He was dragged down by a Crows defender off the ball and handed a free kick straight in front of goal which he aptly converted.

The major was Moore’s fifth of the afternoon and there’s still well over a quarter to play. It’s a career-best haul.

He already has 129 SuperCoach points - 45 more than anyone else on the ground. Yes, you read that right. ‘

3:21pm: IT AIN’T OVER YET

Just as it looked like this could get seriously ugly for the Crows, they’ve kicked two majors on the trot through Chris Burgess and Darcy Fogarty and cut the margin to 36 points.

3:09pm: TEX OUT

Taylor Walker has been subbed out of the game at half-time with a back issue. It means he’ll be replaced by Crows substitute Sam Berry.

Adelaide coach Matthew Nicks painted a disappointed picture when speaking to Cam Mooney on Fox Footy at half-time.

“That’s unfortunately one of your worst halves we’ve had for a long-time, things aren’t going our way at the moment and we’ve got a fair bit of work to do,” Nicks said.

“We reset now, we’ve had to sub Tex (Walker) out, his back’s gone, that will challenge us again.

“We’ll have to make some changes there. Ultimately it’s contest, our ball-use ... for whatever reason we’re on a different space at the moment.”

HT: SUPERCOACH LEADERS

Dylan Moore is on fire. The Hawks forward has almost tonned up at half-time, with 96 points already to his name. If you traded him in a month ago off the back of three consecutive tons and have held him despite the poor run of scoring that followed - bravo.

Massimo D’Ambrosio is on trakc for a very solid score with 50 half-time points, while alarm bells will be ringing for Jordan Dawson owners as he has just 34 points to his name.

Jai Newcombe and Jarman Impey have also enjoyed strong games for the Hawks with 67 and 66 points respectively.

2:43pm: OH, CJ

Hawthorn’s Changkuoth Jiath has been placed on report for a headbutt.

The incident occurred with a touch over four minutes to play until half-time and Adelaide’s Mitch Hinge appeared to be on the receiving end of the blow.

It could prove costly, with Jack Ginnivan robbed of a chance to extend Hawthorn’s lead beyond 30 points after his set shot from a comfortable angle was overturned as a result.

2:40pm: DAWSON STRUGGLING

It’s becoming clear Jordan Dawson is below 100 per cent fitness and it’s certainly affecting his SuperCoach scoring. The midfield dynamo has just 27 points with five minutes to play until half-time.

If you’re one of the 2,205 coaches that traded him in this week - like resident expert Tim Michell - alarm bells may be ringing.

2:29pm: MOORE’S DAMAGING DOUBLE BLOW

After an improved finish to the first term, Adelaide finds itself trailing by over 30 points early in the second term after a pair of goals in quick succession from Hawks forward Dylan Moore.

Moore has been of the game’s best players and already has three majors to his name.

His electric start has been rewarded in SuperCoach too with 71 points to his name already. The three per cent of coaches - which I am fortunately one of - that own him will be rejoicing.

A midfield switch earlier in the season saw Moore fly onto SuperCoach radars with scores of 116, 136, and 140 between rounds six and eight. If you - like me - jumped on after that run of form, you were let down severely as Moore returned to the forward line and scores of 76, 66, and 73 have followed.

QT: SUPERCOACH ANALYSIS

He may have passed a late pre-game fitness test, but Jordan Dawson wasn’t at his destructive best in the first quarter, with just 14 SuperCoach points to his name.

Hawthorn’s Massim0 D’Ambrosio, who still sits in 18.2 per cent of teams - making him the most popular player on the field today - made a solid start with 29 points at quarter-time.

Dylan Moore - who shot into SuperCoach relevancy a few weeks ago with three tons on the trot - is leading the way with 42 points. He sits in three per cent of teams.

Jarman Impey and Will Day have also been impressive with 41 and 40 points respectively, while Crows ruck Reilly O’Brien has 35.

2:10pm: CROWS STRIKE

Having been comprehensively outplayed by the Hawks in the opening term, the Crows now have their first major through Lachlan Murphy.

Murphy was awarded a free kick in the pocket and aptly snapped through from the tight angle. However it was the decision to award the free kick which may raise eyebrows after Seamus Mitchell was pinged holding the ball despite having had no prior opportunity in one of the early examples of the new interpretation trickling into the game.

1:57pm: GUNSTON ON THE BOARD

You couldn’t script a better start for Jack Gunston in game 250.

The three-time premiership player has nailed his first attempt at goal, slotting his set shot straight through the eye-diddle-diddle.

The Hawks have established a 15-point lead, with Adelaide still yet to score.

1:51pm: REEVES CASHES IN

Hawthorn have dominated the opening minutes against the Crows, and their pressure - which is a cornerstone of their game - has been through the roof. It’s caused the footy to sit in the Hawks’ forward half.

With his side’s third set shot of the game, Ned Reeves was the first benefactor of his side’s dominance, extending Hawthorn’s early lead to eight points with the opening major.

1:50pm: HAWKS SPRAY EARLY CHANCES

We’re underway at the MCG. Hawthorn has registered the first two behinds of the game, with Jack Ginnivan and Calsher Dear missing set shots either side of the big sticks.

1:40pm: CAN CROWS SNAP HOODOO?

An in-form Hawks side isn’t the only thing standing in the Crows way today, with Adelaide winless at the MCG since 2017.

Earlier in the week Callum Dick analysed how every club performs on the road, and Adelaide has the second-worst record away from home of any non-Victorian side, winning just 27.7 per cent of those games. Read Callum’s full piece here.

1:35pm: LOCK HIM IN

It’s official. Jordan Dawson is in.

The Crow has run out with his team and through the banner.

Fox Footy’s David Zita has also confirmed the news after the Crow battled a foot concern.

1:20pm: DAWSON LOOKS OKAY

Jordan Dawson watch has been in full-flight in the lead up to the opening bounce, with concerns he may be a very late out for the Crows.

He seems to have passed his fitness test however and could be seen warming up with his jacket off on Adelaide Oval.

His 31,350 SuperCoach owners will certainly be keeping their fingers crossed.

12:45pm: FINAL TEAMS ... FOR NOW

While Jordan Dawson could still be withdrawn by the Crows - a move that would throw 31,350 SuperCoach teams into disarray - we have otherwise been spared of any other late changes.

Luke Breust will start as the sub for Hawthorn, while Sam Berry will don the vest for Adelaide.
