10:20: FT — SAINTS MAKE REIGNING-PREMIER SIZED STATEMENT
St Kilda has issued a statement in Spud’s Game by defeating reigning premier Collingwood.
Rising star Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera starred with 120 SuperCoach points while Jack Steele wasn’t far behind with 117.
Darcy Cameron was terrific for the Pies with 114 SuperCoach points but star midfielder Jordan De Goey was rather disappointing with just 40 points from his 13 disposals.

10:08: CONTROVERSY OVER HIGGINS’ STUNNER
Jack Higgins has quashed Collingwood’s chances of a late comeback with an absolute stunner from deep in the pocket.
The controversy surrounds how deep the goal actually was, with the Collingwood faithful up in arms about the ball crossing the line as it was kicked.
Two umpires were in a perfect position to make the call.
It came right as the Pies were mounting a comeback.

10:02: HERE THEY COME!
Collingwood has found its feet, trimming the margin to 15 points after being down by 33.
Norm Smith Medallist Bobby Hill has kicked the Pies’ two goals.
The Pies are on the march with less than 10 minutes left in the game.

9:48: HENRY PUTS SAINTS UP BY 26
If the Magpies’ escape act wasn’t going to be hard enough, an early goal to Saint Liam Henry has made it even more difficult.
The Saints lead by 26 just 45 seconds into the final quarter.
Henry has been enormous, with three goals and 91 SuperCoach points.

9:41: 3QT — SAINTS HAVE STRANGLEHOLD ON THE PIES
Collingwood will need to pull off another come-from-behind heist if its to avoid a disastrous 0-3 start to its title defence.
The Saints kicked five goals to the Pies one in a sizzle premiership term to lead by 20 points at the final change.
Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera is living up to Ross Lyon’s earlier comparison with 91 SuperCoach points to three-quarter time.

9:32: WHERE’S JORDY?
Collingwood star Jordan De Goey has had minimal impact on the game late in the third term.
De Goey has just 10 disposals, two clearances and no tackles with four minutes left in the premiership quarter.
The 2.8 per cent of SuperCoaches that own De Goey will be livid with his 26 points.
9:22: WILSON MAKES IMPACT
Highly-owned SuperCoach rookie Darcy Wilson was having a quiet night for the Saints with only two disposals up until halfway through the third term.
While his break even is -17, he was on just 12 SuperCoach points before an influential passage of play.
The passage eventuated in Max King kicking his third goal to put the Saints up by 16 points.
Wilson is now on 27 SuperCoach points.
9:15: SAINTS BURST OUT AGAIN
Two early goals from Max King and Liam Henry has propelled St Kilda back in front.
The pair of majors were kicked from set shots and are both King and Henry’s second for the night.
King has shot up to 64 SuperCoach points while Henry has 54.
8:51: HT — PIES PUT SAINTS IN A SPIN CYCLE
The Magpies have spun the match on St Kilda, turning five consecutive goals conceded into four unanswered goals of their own.
Collingwood was under siege during the early stages of the second term but answered strongly, largely off the back of the Saints’ turnovers.
Darcy Cameron is having a massive SuperCoach night with 77 points to the main change while Saint Jack Steele (68) has been tremendous.

He might not have had the most dominant of grand finals but Collingwood’s Billy Frampton has been superb tonight.
Resuming a role in the Pies’ back six, Frampton has had 12 disposals to the main break.
For the SuperCoaches looking for a defender after injuries to Zach Reid and Josh Gibcus, Frampton costs just $329,700.
8;42: THE PREMIERS ANSWER
Collingwood has answered with two quick goals to take the lead from St Kilda.
Patrick Lipinski booted his second from a tidy set shot to kick the Pies’ third successive major.

8:37:THE PIES ARE SHOWING SIGNS
Collingwood is showing ominous signs in the late stages of the second term, regaining an influence at stoppages while drying up St Kilda’s scoring.
The Pies have missed a couple of opportunities and — despite St Kilda’s early dominance around the ground — only trail by 11 points.
8:26: FIVE ON THE BOUNCE FOR THE SAINTS
Tim Membrey has put the Saints 18 points up early in the second term, marking five unanswered St Kilda goals.
Captain Jack Steele is still running amok while Jack Higgins has also crept up on the SuperCoach leaderboard.
8:16: QT — SIZZLING STEELE
St Kilda star Jack Steele is on a mission tonight.
Steele has 48 SuperCoach points to the first change from his seven-disposal, five-tackle opening stanza.
He’s joined by teammate Brad Hill as the Saints’ best to quarter time.
Darcy Cameron is leading the way for the Pies.

8:10: SAINTS SPARK AFTER STAR GOES DOWN
St Kilda has kicked three goals in quicktime after the stop in play for winger Mason Wood.
Trailing by 13 at the time of the collision, St Kilda has leapt to a six-point lead.
7:53: SAINT STRETCHERED OFF AFTER HEAVY COLLISION

St Kilda winger Mason Wood has been stretchered from the field after a horrendous collision in which he landed on his head and neck.
The hard-running Saint went back into a marking contest halfway through the second term and made contact with teammate Zaine Cordy, after which he flipped in midair and landed awkwardly.
Wood could be seen writhing in pain on the ground in the moments after contact and play was stopped immediately as he was seen by St Kilda medical staff.
Wood spent eight minutes on the turf as the game stopped, while he was carefully placed on the stretcher and taken from the field.
He could be seen holding his right shoulder while being carted from the field, an injury he carried throughout the 2023 season.
The 30-year-old was involved in an eerily similar incident when playing for North Melbourne in 2016, when he took a mark and spun in midair, landing on the side of his head.
He was knocked out on that occasion and missed the next three games.
The Saints had veteran Zak Jones as their medical sub and he was activated while wood was on the ground.
Wood has been taken to hospital for immediate scans as a precautionary measure.
7:46: LIPINSKI MAKES STRONG START
Collingwood’s Patrick Lipinski has made a terrific start to the match.
Lipinski has been involved in both of the Pies’ scores, including kicking the second major himself.
He has 26 SuperCoach points early in the first term, well on his way to his break even of 73.
7:38: PIES, SAINTS FIRE EARLY
Both Collingwood and St Kilda have fired off an early goal in Thursday night’s blockbuster.
Magpie Jamie Elliott converted a set shot before Saints’ small forward Jack Higgins produced a clever left-foot snap.
Nick Daicos has found a pile of the footy early in his milestone game.
6:48: FOR SPUD
St Kilda and Collingwood fans are piling into the MCG for the annual Spud’s Game.
As reported by Sam Landsberger, the Saints took the cost of moving a home game from Marvel Stadium to the MCG in their stride to promote mental health awareness.
Close to 70,000 fans are expected to attend the marquee match – more than double the 28,985 that attended Spud’s Game against Brisbane Lions last year.

6:41: LYON’S PRAISE FOR NASIAH
St Kilda coach Ross Lyon has praised “graceful” youngster Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera with the highest of compliments.
Lyon told the Fox Footy panel pre-game that Wanganeen-Milera reminded him of one of St Kilda’s best.
“He’s very graceful, he reminds me of Nicky Winmar in the air ,” he said.
“He may have a bit of midfield in him, does he have a bit of Shaun Burgoyne in him? I am not sure.”
6:31: FINAL TEAMS
The final teams for tonight’s clash between St Kilda and Collingwood are in, with Zak Jones and Finlay Macrae named as the respective subs.
Macrae is a SuperCoach favourite this year with his low price while Jones is still working his way back into the side.
Neither team has had a late change.
