Speedy Tassie Roo Aaron Hall raring to go for new club

Tasmanian Aaron Hall can’t wait for the AFL season to get started and with his hard luck over the past few years, it’s easy to understand why he’s excited.

TASMANIAN Kangaroo Aaron Hall says he will up the ante on his run and attack this season as one of North Melbourne’s growing armada of midfielders.

New to the Roos after the speedy Sun’s switch from the Gold Coast, where he played 103 games and kicked 76 goals, Hall said his role had been defined.

“Predominantly I will be playing midfield as well as half-forward, and maybe a little bit out on the wing,” Hall said.

“Brad [Scott, Kangaroos coach] wants to use me in a more attacking role, which is definitely suited to me.

“There’s seven or eight or nine guys who can go through the midfield now. That is really exciting and that gives us another dimension and will make us hard to match up on.”

Hall, 26, is back on home turf as part of North Melbourne’s two-day AFL Community Camp.

Although fellow-Tasmanian Ben Brown was missing due to gastro, the Kangaroos pulled a crowd at North Hobart Oval yesterday, where 300 school kids got a lesson of the Sherrin kind.

A torn pectoral muscle in Gold Coast’s loss to Geelong in June ended Hall’s season.

“I just want to stay injury-free, because in the past three or four years I’ve had so many injuries and niggles,” he said.

“I’ve done a full preseason. I’ve hardly missed a session. I didn’t get to play much football last year but I’m fit and really excited and raring to go.”

“The reason I chose North Melbourne to finish my career was to come home and play in front of friends and family,” Hall said.

“I know what it’s like growing up in Tasmania with not having a professional sporting team so it’s good to get out into the community.”
