Pressure is building on Clarence in its quest to make TSL finals in its showdown with North Hobart

The resignation of a coach has pressure building on Clarence to make the TSL finals with a win over inspired Demons

Decision to resume travel to NZ in 'Jacinda Ardern's court'

CLARENCE will only have itself to blame if it doesn’t make the TSL finals, says coach Jeromey Webberley, as the Roos face a fired-up North Hobart at Richmond Oval today, with the Dees keen to send off their coach with a victory.

Yesterday’s bombshell resignation of North Hobart coach Richard Robinson makes the Demons more dangerous.

“There’s been a couple of times this year when we could have locked away a finals spot and we’ve just missed that opportunity,” Webberley said.

“If we lose to North Hobart, and the Tigers beat Lauderdale, we’ve only got ourselves to blame.

“It’s actually an exciting scenario, like a mini elimination final on our home deck at Richmond.

“So we are looking forward to the challenge and hopefully we can get the job done and lock away a finals spot.”

North Hobart’s win over Glenorchy last week impressed the Roos.

“They showed a lot of character,” Webberley said.

“Glenorchy really hit them hard early, put on some scoreboard pressure, and North Hobart fought back and won.

“I really liked their contested work and when they move the ball fast they are dangerous.”

Clarence has an eye one on inside ball-winners Troy Cunliffe and Jack Sandric, and are trying to decide which Roo will get the job on big Dee forward Julian Dobosz.

“Julian has been clunking them in the air but he’s also really good on the ground and he’s really competitive, so they are going to be a tough challenge.”
