‘Let her know’: Ablett’s heartbreaking post over mum’s death

Jordan Ablett has shared a devastating message over the tragic death of her mum, which left her overcome on Mother’s Day.

Jordan Ablett has shared a heartbreaking message about the death of her mum.

The popular lifestyle influencer on Sunday night posted a photo of her mum Trudy with a heartfelt plea to her followers.

The wife of AFL legend Gary Ablett lost her mum after a long battle with lung cancer in 2020.

The family was rocked at the time with Trudy’s death coming just weeks after the couple announced their son Levi had been diagnosed with a rare degenerative disease that affects his respiratory system.

Jordan shared just how devastated she continues to be almost four years since her mum’s passing.

“When your mum is no longer here, you quickly realise how every day is an opportunity to celebrate your mum,” Jordan wrote on Instagram.

“To let her know always, not just on MD, how much you love her, and how you appreciate her love and all of her sacrifices.”

Jordan Ablett shared the photo on her Instagram stories.

She has previously spoken about her ongoing heartbreak and has said publicly how much she wanted her mum by her side when the family has had tough times in recent years.

A day Before Christmas in 2020, Jordan shared a poem with an ode to her mum and all those who were left grieving over the holiday period.

“After the year that has been, I’m thinking of everyone this Christmas. I’m particularly thinking of those who are grieving and who are feeling far from merry,” Jordan captioned the post.

“My heart breaks with yours … As hard as this Christmas will be, I know my Mum would want nothing more than for love, joy and peace to surround us three girls, her daughters and to fill our hearts this Christmas.

“I hope and pray the same for you!”

Ablett has continued to be an ambassador for the Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) Good Friday Appeal and has bravely shared details of the family’s journey with son Levi.

She says she has been just like every other proud mum watching Levi thrive alongside his siblings Grace and Ezra.

The Geelong Cats icon and Jordan welcomed their third child, Ezra, in July, 2023.

The family made the difficult decision not to send Levi, 5, to school this year.

Levi’s condition affects his respiratory system and he is continuing to receive treatment through the RCH.

The family has been able to celebrate several big development milestones that Levi has reached this year.

“Grace is now nearly two-and-a-half and they’ve got a super cute connection and even having Ez who is seven-months now, it’s nice to surround Levi with children,’’ Jordan said.

“Hearing what other families have said, their childhood is kind of taken from them a bit so when Levi is around children he really does light up.

“Everyone keeps asking how he’s doing and he’s pretty much the same to be honest

“I feel like we sound a bit repetitive but he’s getting older and he’s growing which means there are more challenges that are arising but we’re managing.

“Over the course of the year we have months on and months off (at the RCH). Lots of appointments, different teams obviously, and they’ve been amazing for us.”

She said recently: “As hard as it is, your child will unlock things inside you, things that matter and that are of value. They will help you see the world with different lenses.

“You won’t live like you used to, but you won’t want to either.”
