NORTH Hobart’s forward line is on the verge of receiving a massive jolt with Julian Dobosz retuning home to Tasmania and in line to re-join to his junior club.

The former underage Devils star last played in his home state for Hobart City in 2016, before moving to Melbourne and signing VFL outfit Sandringham.

Dobosz, who already has 78 senior games with Demons under his belt, played with Geelong Football League side North Shore in 2018 and was involved in a messy release from the second year of his contract last season to Caulfield Grammarians in the VAFA.

North Hobart has approached AFL Tasmania to apply for an interstate transfer for Dobosz under the exceptional circumstances clause (3.5.7) of the National Player Transfer and Registration Guidelines.

Both AFL Tasmania and Caulfield Grammarians have ticked off the application, with a final clearance from the AFL required before Dobosz can feature in the TSL.

“Julian is a Tasmanian who started his footy career at North Hobart and moved to Melbourne to live and work,” Demons president Craig Martin said.

“Given the lockdown situation in Melbourne he hasn’t enjoyed living there and has moved home indefinitely to be with his family.

“These are obviously exceptional circumstances and we await the final decision from the AFL.

“Obviously for Julian’s overall health and well- being playing footy again is very important, North Hobart has agreed to transfer Julian back to Caulfield Grammarians if and when Julian returns to Melbourne.”

A 193cm key target, Dobosz would bolster a Demons outfit which has made big strides in 2020 before being whacked by Glenorchy in the wet last weekend.

He is currently doing his mandatory 14 day quarantine, and if cleared could make his Demons return as soon as round eight next Sunday against Lauderdale.
