Jack Crisp and the new love of his life

There is an expression that players are married to premierships, but Collingwood star defender Jack Crisp has taken the saying literally in a recent Instagram post.

The flag Pie, who starred in the grand final win over Brisbane with 25 disposals, seven marks and two goals, posted a video on the social media app where he looked to be ‘dating’ the premiership cup.

Captioned ‘It’s been real, back to work’, the clip shows Crisp ignoring his wife Mikayla’s kiss before turning to show some affection towards the cup.

He also shared a romantic spaghetti dish, along with a glass of red wine, with the trophy, with the two lovers pulling off their best impersonation of the ‘Lady and the Tramp’ pasta scene.

Crisp also buckled the cup up in a stroller, as well as slow dancing with the silverware and enjoying a movie night on the couch with a bag of popcorn.

The video, which was posted on Monday, has received more than 9500 likes on Crisp’s Instagram account, with plenty of Magpies fans roaring their approval in the comments.

Tania Roper commented saying “that’s awesome”, while Bernie O’Reilly said it was “some of your best work”.

It was Crisp’s first AFL premiership win, having also played in Collingwood’s grand final loss to West Coast in 2018, making the victory even sweeter.

He turned his back on free agency in 2022, instead signing a contract extension until the end of the 2026 season, which will leave him just shy of his 33rd birthday when he comes out of contract again.

Crisp averaged 21.4 disposals, 3.8 marks, 4.4 tackles, 3.6 inside 50s and 2.6 clearances per game across the 26 games he played in 2023, while also surpassing the 200-game club milestone at the Magpies.
