Welcome to Tasmania.
To help you get your bearings, you’re now standing on the island you’d see out the back window of the plane (if it had one) on your way to China each year. Still a bit confused? This might help: Tasmania is about 1600km south of the Gold Coast.
NORTH-WEST: This region no longer has a team in the state’s top competition after two pulled out this year. But don’t worry, it’s only produced a long list of AFL legends.
NORTH: This is where Hawthorn plays sometimes. You might have seen it on the television. Hasn’t produced an AFL draft pick since 2013. Did someone say talent pathway?
SOUTH: Where Hobart is. You’ll be here today. Fun fact: it’s the only state capital without its own AFL team. Plenty of time, though: we only started playing the game here in 1864.
