Collingwood vice-captain Taylor Adams is reportedly considering interest to move to the Sydney Swans.

Just days after he missed out on playing in the Magpies’ Grand Final victory, bombshell news has dropped that Sydney has interest in Adams, according to 7News.

It was revealed on Thursday the Swans had put a goliath offer on the table to sign key forward Aaron Naughton before he decided to remain with the Bulldogs.

Now the Swans have turned their attention to Adams, AFL Trade Radio also reported.

AFL Media’s Callum Twomey posted on Twitter: “Sydney has had interest in Taylor Adams, who has a year to go on his deal with Collingwood. Swans have been looking at the midfield options on the trade table this period”.

Adams is signed with Collingwood until the end of the 2024 season after signing a five-year contract extension in 2019.

The 30-year-old was spotted in tears at the MCG on Saturday while walking around the ground and congratulating his teammates after their win over the Brisbane Lions.

Because he missed the Grand Final, Adams did not receive a premiership medal despite being a key figure in the club’s 2023 campaign.

Speculation about his future has now become the biggest bombshell of the 2023 AFL Trade Period so far.

7News has reported Melbourne ruckman Brodie Grundy’s expected move to the Swans has given Adams another reason to move to the Harbour City with the pair enjoying a close friendship from Grundy’s years at the Magpies.

Because Adams remains under contract next year, the Swans would have to negotiate a deal with Collingwood before the midfielder could potentially be released from his contract.

The Herald Sun reports the Magpies are aware of Sydney’s interest.

Adams played 23 games for the Magpies this season, but missed out on the Grand Final and preliminary final as a result of an injury.

After missing out on Naughton, the Swans have emerged as one of the biggest players in the 2023 Trade Period.

AFL journalist Tom Morris was on Thursday the first to unmask the Swans as the biggest threat to the Bulldogs, tabling a reported 10-year deal worth more than $11 million.

Armed with that war chest, the Swans are reportedly plotting to be active in signing mature-aged players to boost the club’s premiership push after falling from a Grand Final appearance in 2022 to being eliminated in the first week of the finals last month.

The club is widely speculated to be chasing hard-edged inside midfielders capable of boosting the club’s ability to win contested balls.

The Sydney Swans have announced former Melbourne midfielder James Jordon has joined the football club as an unrestricted free agent.

It was widely reported last week Jordon had selected the Swans after telling the Demons he wanted to find a new home.

The AFL announced Melbourne will receive Pick 39 in the 2023 National Draft as compensation.

Swans football boss Charlie Gardiner said the club believes Jordon’s time in Melbourne means he will be an asset for the club.

“James is a talented young midfielder who we think has a bright future ahead of him,” Gardiner said.

“We think he will be a valuable addition to our midfield group with his running ability and flexibility to play inside and out.

“He has had an impressive start to his career to date and comes with experience in a successful program at Melbourne, so we are confident he will make us better.

“We’re really looking forward to welcoming James to the club.”
