Collingwood defender Brayden Maynard has come away unscathed from a collision with a ute in Brighton on Thursday morning.
Maynard, 28, was driving his car in the Bayside area when he collided with the ute.
Collingwood confirmed the all-Australian backman and the two occupants of the ute were both unharmed in the incident, but both vehicles sustained damage.
Magpies football boss Charlie Gardiner said the club was relieved Maynard and the other duo involved had avoided injury.
“Fortunately, neither Brayden nor the passengers in the other vehicle were hurt in the accident,” Gardiner said.
“Speaking with Brayden this morning, this was an unfortunate accident, but thankfully he and the other driver and passenger were okay.”
A Collingwood spokesperson said Maynard was expected to attend training on Friday and the club had no concerns over his availability for Saturday’s clash against Port Adelaide.
It is the second time in two years Maynard has been involved in a morning traffic accident.
His vehicle collided with another car on the Mornington Peninsula Freeway in January last year, with both drivers unharmed.
Collingwood said at the time the accident was “very minor”, and Maynard and the other driver exchanged details.
He missed a Monday pre-season training session as a result of the incident.
