The Western Bulldogs are into the AFL preliminary finals against Port Adelaide — and the God of Thunder approves.

The Bulldogs appeared to be dead and gone going into the AFL Finals after losing the last three games before the Finals but have beaten Essendon and now the Brisbane Lions to move a game out of the Grand Final.

The match against the Lions has already gone down as a modern classic after the Bulldogs edged ahead in the final minute of the game thanks to a scrappy behind from Laitham Vandermeer to hold in an epic 11.13 (79) to 11.12 (78) victory.

While fans were once again raging over controversial umpiring calls — something which has plagued the finals series so far — the Bulldogs fans were thrilled to make the club’s first prelim since the 62-year drought breaking premiership in 2016.

One such fan was the God of Thunder himself, Aussie beefcake Chris Hemsworth.

As one of the Bulldogs’ biggest supporters, who was at the Grand Final in 2016, the whole Hemsworth clan are Bulldogs diehards.

Still ripped to shreds despite filming of the next Thor movie — Thor: Love and Thunderhaving wrapped months ago, Hemsworth shared his reaction to the one point victory on Instagram.

He wrote: “One of the most nerve racking games of @afl I’ve ever watched!! Well done @westernbulldogs keep it up!!”

The post left the AFL account confused about what was the best thing in the photo: “we don’t know where to look”.

In less than 12 hours, Hemsworth had earned more than 1.3m likes for the post from his 50.4m followers.

Hemsworth is reportedly looking into a move from Byron Bay to Sydney, after being linked to a $50m property in Burraneer Bay in the Sutherland Shire.

The result sees the Bulldogs book a spot in next Saturday night’s preliminary final against Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval.
