Charlie Curnow, Harry Sheezel and where AFL players are travelling in the off-season
With September arriving, there’s 10 AFL teams who will watch on enviously. So, why not do it somewhere exotic? From Ibiza to Flushing Meadows, here’s where they’ve jetted off to.
Charlie Curnow’s time at Carlton remains uncertain and while the club and his managers talk his long term future in Australia, his short term future is in New York.
The biggest name to be in play this trade period was front and square in support of Australian tennis star Alex de Minaur at the US Open in Flushing Meadows.
The off-season is here for 10 AFL clubs and you know what that means — it’s time to dust off the passport and jet off for some sunshine, sport and scooters.
Curnow is one of many players to head overseas to catch some Europe and American sun.
His teammates in Matt Cottrell, Francis Evans and Jaxon Binns are living large on iconic party island Ibiza.
North Melbourne skipper Jy Simpkin is soaking up some Bali warmth, while the Western Bulldogs are having to wait for both their Mad Monday celebrations and any travelling as they wait to see whether VFL compatriots at Footscray can salute with a state league premiership.
Simpkin’s teammate Harry Sheezel has, like Curnow, headed Stateside, with the health-oriented young star heading straight to the iconic Erewhon market in Beverley Hills to sample some of the finest, while fellow Roo Bailey Scott is in Japan.
And while we’re not exactly sure exactly where Swan James Rowbottom is in his off-season, with a beautiful sunset and some glorious sail boats on the horizon, that looks pretty good to us.
We know where his teammate Hayden McLean is, though.
