Bombers reportedly sniffing around Tigers star Shai Bolton

The Bombers have reportedly made a bold-faced inquiry regarding the future of Tigers star Shai Bolton and potential massive offers.

Essendon is reportedly sniffing around Tigers marvel Shai Bolton.

The Richmond forward has been red hot in 2021 and is in the kind of form that will entice some rival clubs to throw big-money offers as he potentially heads into the 2021 Trade Period without a contract beyond the 2021 season.

The Herald Sun reported Sunday night Bolton’s manager Ralph Carr has met with Bombers recruitment boss Adrian Dodoro regarding the futures of Bolton and Mabior Chol.

The reigning premiers are reportedly feeling the squeeze of salary cap pressures after winning three of the last four premierships.

Despite a year dominated by off-field headlines for his involvement during a night club incident earlier this year, he has been doing all the right things on the field.

According to the report, Carr believes his client could be worth up to $800,000 per-season as a result of recent big-money offers made to Carton’s Zac Williams and St Kilda midfielder Brad Crouch.

The Bombers were gutted during last year’s trade period after losing Adam Saad, Joe Daniher and Orazio Fantasia. They also failed to lure Josh Dunkley away from the Bulldogs.

It reportedly leaves the club with the cap space to make a play for both Chol and Bolton at the end of the season.

Fox Footy commentator David King said recently Bolton needs to take a deep breath before jumping at potential big-money offers, especially while the Tigers are still right in the mix to win another premiership in the next few years.

“It’s very simple. Shai Bolton, if you want to go and earn $1 million a season, you can go and get it, but that will still be there in three years time,” the North Melbourne great told SEN.

“Right now, we’re in the window. We’ve already won our flags and we’re going again. We’ve probably got two or three more opportunities here.

“So you can sit back, and you’ll hardly be a pauper, you’ll probably be on $650,000 a year. Which is great money for you at your age while you build your reputation and your craft, while you destroy the competition.

“We want to build you into the next Dustin Martin. So go and ask Dustin what it was like when he could have gone to the Kangaroos. He stayed and look at it now.

“The money is the money now. It corrects. If your career goes on the trajectory, and all these other clubs are telling you that it will, but stay here, follow the course that Dustin’s mapped out for you.

“Put a five-year period together of excellence, then cash in. This kid’s going nowhere. Why would you leave?”
