Jess Hosking’s AFLW future in doubt after off-field issue

The future of current AFLW Eagle Jess Hosking is in doubt, with her position at West Coast jeopardised by an “off-field issue” as the Eagles make their return to pre-season.

The future of West Coast AFLW player Jess Hosking is in doubt with the club working through the details of an off-field issue which jeopardises her position at the club.

The Eagles returned to pre-season training yesterday but Hosking was absent and has spent time away from the club recently, including in her home state of Victoria.

West Coast and Hosking have been contacted for comment.

Hosking signed with West Coast as a free agent ahead of the 2024 season after being delisted by Richmond.

The popular 29-year-old had an instant impact in her first season at the Eagles, kicking two goals against her former club in the opening game of 2024. A quad injury sidelined her for two games but Hosking was offered a one-year contract extension for 2025.

In November 2022, Hosking was issued an official warning from the league for inscribing an inappropriate message, ‘Kill Bitches,’ on her shoulder strapping.

She also avoided a conviction for drink driving while on a jetski during a holiday on the Gold Coast in December of the same year.

“I was made out to be this kind of bad girl, Aussie bogan getting caught on a jetski and with some slang on my arm,” Hosking told Code Sports last year. “Someone had to be made an example of. And I’m glad it was me because I wouldn’t want anyone else to go through what I went through.”

Hosking started her AFLW career at Carlton alongside twin sister Sarah back in 2017. She’s played 61 games.
