ADELAIDE rising star winner Ebony Marinoff won’t let a horrific tongue injury stop her from playing this weekend.

Marinoff, 20, split her tongue in Saturday night’s Crows win over Carlton after a head clash with Blues opponent Katie Loynes.

The injury required six stitches and has affected Marinoff’s ability to eat.

Ebony Marinoff sent around a picture of her split tongue on Snapchat. The graphic image has been blurred.

“It hurt and my tongue felt weird, but I had no idea it was in two pieces,” the young star said.

“It was just after half time, so I was fresh and didn’t think I needed to come off at that stage.”

She played out the game before medical staff advised that stitches would be required — once pictures had been shared via Snapchat, of course.

Coach Bec Goddard joked that the doctor should have sewn the chatty Crow’s mouth shut, but Marinoff refused to let the injury affect her, delivering an impressive performance against the Blues.

She will travel to Darwin with her teammates on Thursday for Friday night’s crucial game against Fremantle.
