ADELAIDE is back in the trade race for Collingwood defender Paul Seedsman.
The Crows tonight are closing on a deal that would usurp Seedsman’s early suitor North Melbourne — and remove Gold Coast from the race.
Seedsman, 23, last week — as the Crows were focused on a deal for Patrick Dangerfield’s move to Geelong — was seen to be favouring the Kangaroos as North Melbourne prepared for a major raid through the AFL player market.
But the advantage of clearing away the Dangerfield deal on the first day of AFL trade talks at Etihad Stadium on Monday has allowed Adelaide to get back in the bidding for Seedsman.
Seedsman has played 49 AFL games for Collingwood, 12 this year, since being the No. 76 pick in the 2010 national draft. His addition to the player list at West Lakes — along with the impending trade of running half-back Curtly Hampton from Greater Western Sydney — would enhance new coach Don Pyke’s wish for more run and flexibility with his midfield options.
The AFL trade period closes at 1.30pm next Thursday.
