The go-home factor is never more relevant than in WA. Currently 84 players at rival clubs would sit on Fremantle and West Coast’s trade target whiteboards – but how many are gettable?

Nowhere is the AFL’s go-home factor more relevant than in Western Australia.

The furthest trip in football for most teams, a big chunk of West Coast and Fremantle’s recruiting strategy over the years has revolved around luring WA talent back home.

In the past 10 off-seasons, 13 of the 16 players the Dockers have traded into the club have been Sandgropers returning home. At West Coast, players like Liam Baker, Tim Kelly, Lewis Jetta, Elliot Yeo and Sharrod Wellingham have all returned to play for the club after starting their careers elsewhere.

There are currently 84 WA born and bred or linked players running around at opposition clubs.
